DARYL

     "SHE FINALLY FELL ASLEEP."
Carol said, looking back at Taylor in the back seat of the car.

Daryl looked up at the rear view mirror, and sure enough, Taylor was fast asleep, sprawled across the seats as she hugged her backpack as a pillow.

"Good. She's probably gonna need it." He replied.

"...What are you going to do?" Carol asked.

"'Bout what?" He responded, looking ahead at the road.

"About the WLF. There after Ellie and Taylor." Carol responded.

"...Well, Joel's got Ellie taken care o' after he killed all the Firefly's...I'm keepin' her away from 'em.  I ain't gonna let 'em take her." He explained.

"...You can't keep lying to her. You never told her that in order for them to make a cure from her and Ellie, it would kill them. That's why Joel took Ellie from the Firefly's and killed them all..." She said.

"Look," He began, "I don'...I don' like lyin' to her...but sometimes...it's the best for her...".

He'd give everything up before he'd give Taylor up.

For him, it was like having a daughter, and he knew he'd never have one himself.

Since the beginning, the two have grown bomd that was different fom his relations with Rick, Carol, and Beth.

It was a unique kind of chemistry.

It broke his heart to know that as soon as they found her parents, she'd most likely forget all about him and go on her merry way with them.

His eyes went back up to the rear view mirror, seeing Taylor begin to wake up in the back as she sat up and stretched her arms.

"Well good morning, sleeping beauty. Here, eat some breakfast." Carol handed Taylor a can of peaches and a water bottle, Taylor cutting through the tin lid with her hunting knife.

"Do you think my grandmother's still alive?" She asked, taking a handful of the peaches.

Daryl knew the answer to that, but she most definitely wouldn't like it.
