Stories always tell of the beautiful princess being rescued by the courageous prince, and being married off in a beautiful kingdom. For young princess Evelyn, she was quick to learn that once upon a times don't always end with happily ever afters, and princesses aren't always rescued by their prince charmings.

Being the youngest of eight children to beloved King Hedrik and Queen Camilla, she was often neglected and overshadowed by the direct heirs of the throne. She often had to celebrate her birthdays alone as her siblings were far older than her and off to seek adventures and duties in neighboring kingdoms. Her parents were always busy with royal duties and were rarely home in the castle. By the time she was ten, the second youngest princess in the family, her sister Isabel was married off to a mighty duke in the neighboring country. It wasn't going to be long before she was going to be shipped off to a prince, a stranger that she would have no love connection with.

There was so much focus on her brothers being suitable heirs to the Denmark throne and her sisters being found suitable royals to wed to, that Evelyn couldn't help but be in the shadows. No one knew about her extraordinary gift, her gift of magic. She kept it to herself, afraid that she'd be in worse condition than she was now. Although she knew her parents loved her, there just wasn't enough love to show that she mattered. Due to this, Evelyn kept to herself in her room almost all hours of the day, being accompanied by only one friend: the little servant boy, Angelo.
