The Way We Were

Prologue

My first day in Beacon Hills was probably one of the most memorable days of my life.The day I met the boy who i'd first fall in love with.The boy who would forever change my life

"Class please welcome our new student Andrea Argent."The principle said with me following behind him.

"Where are you from?"The teacher asked shaking my hand.

"I- um- just moved from Florida."I smiled.

"Wow the weather there is-interesting."He said awkwardly."Please take a seat." It was a chemistry class and the only seat really available was by a boy with gorgeous green eyes.

"He's weird, right?"He smiles.

"I guess."I smile putting my bag down on the ground.

"Alright guys to continue what I was saying before ,today we will be doing a lab.Derek can you help Andrea with the equipment and walk her through our rules."The teacher says beginning to write down instructions on the board.Derek, I thought to myself.

"Sure thing."He said turning to me."So,Andrea, you want to pour the benedict into the solution."He said holding up a container with blue liquid and giving it to me.

"Call me Andie"I corrected.

"Andie."He smiled."But just 150 milliliters."He said.I began to pour without thinking.He grabbed my hand and slowly moved the container up right.

"I completely blanked."I laughed setting the container down."I'm just gonna let you do all the work."

"If I had a dollar for every time I heard that-"He started.Picking up another solution that I had never even heard of and pouring it into the beaker.

"Than you'd be broke."I smirked.

"Good one." He smiled.

That was the first time we had met.Since then we were inseperable. Started off,very shortly, as friends but it formed into something more.Way more.I remember a time where I had seen him in the hallway infront of some locker.There were pictures of a girl with long brown hair,Candles;Some lit some burned out.And flowers.I had never seen him so blank faced. Like a zombie filled with bad memories.I couldn't help but wonder who she was.

"What happened to her?"I asked standing next to him.

"She died."He said not staring up from the items on the floor.

"What happened?"I asked still keeping my gaze on him.

"Last year she was attacked.By an animal."He said looking up and staring at me as if reading my reaction.

"That's horrible.Were you good friends?"I asked.

"You could say that."He said looking back down.Almost like a complete shift in mood he looked back up.

"Lets go for a drive somewhere."He suggested before taking my hand and leading me out the doors and to his car.

"Where are we going?"I ask opening the door and hopping inside.

"You'll see."He said starting his engine.

"You aren't going to kidnap me and then leave me here,in the woods right."I asked sarcastically.He stopped in the middle of the woods.With no one in hearing distance...

"What are you doing?" I asked watching him get out of the car.

"Get out."He said before shutting the door.I got out of the car

"Damn.Okay."I smiled sarcastically.He layed on the hood of the car and I joined him.In the middle of what was still the woods we were looking at the sky.

"That girl,the one that died,her name is Paige-was Paige." He said still looking up into the sky.I turned my body towards him to maybe see the emotion on his face.There wasn't one."She was my girlfriend."

"I'm sorry."I touched his face and couldn't help but think about how horrible that must've been for him.How horrible it still is.

"There's a lot of things you don't know about me A."He said moving my hand from his face and sitting up

"Then tell me."I said sitting up also."I want to know everything about you.Every little detail because-because I love you."I exclaimed before realizing the words that came out of my mouth.Derek finally looked at me"Oh my god."I muttered turning my head.

"If I show you something do you promise not to freak out."He said getting off of the hood and walking a few yards away.Ignoring the fact that I said I loved him,which drived me even more crazy.

"I promise."I wasn't scared of what he was going to show me at all.He turned and I gasped at what I was looking at.My immediate reaction was to move farther back onto the hood.

"You promised you wouldn't freak out."He said.I noticed the canines in his mouth,and the claws on his hands.But the more I looked at him,the more comfortable I became.I knew I was in love with every part of him,and this is part of him.Hopping off of the car and walking towards him,I put my arms around his neck.

"I love you."I restated.

"I love you too."He muttered changing back but soon lightly pushed me away."We shouldn't be together.Its too dangerous."He said walking towards the car again.

"I can take care of myself okay?"I exclaimed."I want to be with you.

"Do you know what its like to have the very first person you have ever loved die in your arms."He exclaimed."She got bit,by someone like me and it was all my fault."

"You have to stop blaming yourself Derek."I said walking towards him."Its not your fault okay?None of this is."

"Yes it is.I brought her into this.Just like you're now into it."He took a few steps towards me and then stopped."She died because she was close to me.I can't risk losing you too.Now get in the car.

"No."I stated taking a step back.

"What?"

"I said no.We aren't leaving until you realize how much of an idiot you sound like right now."

"I'm trying to protect you."

"I don't need protecting."I exclaimed."I can take care of myself."

"Listen to me when I say I don't want you getting hurt."He exclaimed walking closer to me.

"Listen to me when i say 'I don't care'."I said taking a step closer to him.The only things bad about him is that hes so stubborn.

"You should."He said with his face destiffening.

"I don't."I said placing my hand on his cheek.He leaned in and pressed his lips against mine.He pulled back

"But you should."He muttered with his eyes still closed.

"But I don't."I said leaning back in.It was a kiss that wasn't like any other we had shared.This was more passionate and intense.Running his hands through my hair he reached behind my thighs and lifted me up.Walking us backwards towards the car

So I know it seems like this is moving fast but through out the story we will be having flashbacks to what their lives together was like before the fire and what happened with them.But next chapter we will be starting in season 1.Enjoy(:
