Third Person's POV
Before the person could answer Rebekah smoothly slided behind them and looked at Rose with a genuine smile on her lips "Someone seemed upset that little Mathew couldn't join but we never said he couldn't" She said and looked down to meet the 9 year old's shining eyes,He looked at Rose and smiled showing his perfect little teeth "You look very smart in that white suite of yours,Love.Who picked it out?" Rose asked,now everyone approaching them "Hmm,Me and Mrs Sofia chose this one together" he answered but Rose noticed that his eyes caught something more like someone behind her,Before she could turn to see who it was
"ELIJAH" Mathew almost yelled and ran towards him as Elijah adored the child,he crouch down to his level before he could reach him and engulfed him in a hug,Rose watched this little interaction and was wondering that how did that happen,She walked towards them and looked at Elijah with a playful expression on her face "Since when did you two boys got closer?" She asked and saw the both of them exchanging looks, "We might have been going on shopping sprees and frequent Boys Day out while you were away" Elijah replied earning an Ohh from Rose,
She now was looking at Mathew with raised eyebrows "So that's where the new comics came from" Mathew whom fiddled with the button on his dress coat ,wore an innocent look and how could anyone be possibly mad at this little marshmallow,Rose couldn't control her awe and gently ruffled his hair carefully not ruining his well done hair,He gave his full teeth smile in return "You look damn adorable,Would you like a delightful dance?" Rose asked extending her hand to which Mathew shyly smiled and took his guardian's hand before heading to the ballroom.
The Mikaelson siblings stood together and watched as their friend danced with the 9 year old,Twirling him around and admiring his enlightened expressions,They were happy to say the least seeing her after all this time.
"Her smile hasn't changed a bit" Rebekah commented earning a nod from her brothers "Her smile hasn't but her eyes have,They don't possess the warmth once they held" Elijah said with a concerned tone catching the attention of his other siblings as they set silent fully knowing what the reason was,No one broke the silence again and they continued looking in Roselyn's direction.
An hour later
Roselyn left everyone as they had dinner while she wandered the familiar house,She was walking by when a closed door caught her eye,She went in and was met with walls filled with magnificent paintings with loads of art supplies here and there,She knew this was Niklaus' studio,Her present unlike towards him was new but she couldn't deny the fact that he indeed was a great artist and being an art admirer herself she shortly started analysing each piece as her eyes travelled from one to another,
Rose was so lost in the art pieces that she didn't notice another presence in the room but it wasn't long when she heard another heartbeat knowing well who it was "Vincent Van Gogh,Interesting I would say" she said looking at the huge painting hung on the wall infront of her "The Starry Night has always been one of my favourites and the new pieces with the same technique are praise worthy nowadays" Rose said turning to see Niklaus staring at her "You can have the original one if you desire" He offered genuinely to which Rose just shook her head "My desires are unreachable at this point,Mikaelson" she commented before walking past him "But I remember when the only desire you had was for us to he together" Niklaus reminded her in some desperate form of planting at least a small seed of sympathy in her heart towards him,The thought of her hating him tore him apart evety single day and he couldn't possibly take it.Rose on this stopped right before the exit of the room without turning she said "Times,People and thoughts change,Niklaus" and walked out of the studio leaving Niklaus with his thoughts.
"Oh no,It's alright he can stay." Elijah said to calm the Tribrid "No,it's absolutely fine,I can carry him" Rose said as she glanced at the small body of Mathew sleeping peacefully on the large bed,"I assure you he will be fine,I will drop him first thing in the morning" Elijah insisted to which Rose finally agreed and allowed Elijah to escort her out,
