(3rd person point of view)

It was a cold February afternoon on the football field. All that could be heard was shuffling footsteps of the players and hollers from the coach with an occasional blaring from his whistle. Dane panted, running across a football field in the coal was tearing apart his lungs. With each breath it felt as if there were cuts forming in his lungs, his throat was dry and cold, he wanted to just give up and go home but that wasn't an option. He knew that if he left the coach wouldn't be very happy. He let out a sigh and kept on running knowing that he still had forty-five minutes left until he could finally go home. He felt a warm hand grab his shoulder flinching at the touch, he looked over to see his best friend Ashden smiling at him.

(Dane's point of view)

"You have got to stop doing that." I sighed as Ashden just continued smiling showing the small gap in between his teeth. I scoffed and looked away, the coach glaring at us to get back to practice. I rolled my eyes and continued running with the rest of my team. "Alright team, we are going to end the day off with some stretches!" The coach hollered, we all came to a stop and found a patch of grass, of course the grass had to be wet. I sat next to Ashden completely ignoring the coach babble on about who knows what at this point. We had a staring contest, and during that, I couldn't help but wonder if he felt the same way I do.

Ashden and I stepped out of my mom's car arriving at my house. He usually came over after every football practice we had together. I opened the door to my house, my mom following behind us. She sets her bag down on the counter, "I'll make you boy's pizza for dinner, then I'll drop Ashden off at his house." We nod and walk up the stairs and into my room. We picked up our Xbox controllers and started fooling around for a little bit. After a few minutes, we remembered our unattended Algebra homework. We sat on my bed, looking up the answers on our phones considering the work was so hard that even trying was out of the question. I look at Ashden for a few seconds, he looks over at me, "Why're you staring?" without responding I grab his face and pull him in for a kiss. I savor the moment for a few seconds, and he suddenly pushes me away. He stood up and stared at me with a look of shock and pure disgust before quietly shouting "What in the world do you think you're doing?!" my heart sank, I fucked up big time. He grabbed his bag and turned to me. "I'm going to call my mom and have her pick me up." Before I could respond he was long gone, I really fucked up this time I knew it was a bad idea, but I still went on with it. "I'm so stupid, I should have just ignored my feelings, but of course I couldn't." I muttered to myself in pure disappointment.
