Pencil marks etch the paper
Once ever so white
The poet darkens the day
Dwindling innocence? Not a surprise.
This romanticized art
Losing its height,
Replaced with screens, not a good place to start.
Maybe it's time to break the stereotype.
Leave the love, move poetry to the darkside.
But what makes a poem so unique?
Hidden behind a veil?
Or truthful and bleak?
Should it be impactful?
Cry out your soul
Should it be ironic?
Timeless thoughts, never so bold.
Or maybe it should be measly?
All short and easy…
If it is, then the thoughts have beaten me.
