Into what, she's not sure—but ever since she arrived at Camp Half-Blood at the age of eight, Emmi has always known that she is powerful. She just doesn't know how to control it. That much became evident at the Battle of Manhattan, when the death of her half-brother drove her powers over the edge for the first and last time.
Since then, Emmi stayed under the radar. As a demigod, she's had to—and despite the fact that she tries to forget about her terrifying power, it follows her. One day, she knows it will drag her down into the depths of insanity like her father warned her. This knowledge frightens Emmi enough that by the time she's fifteen, she stops using her powers completely.
But everything changes when the gods are called back to Olympus and the heavens seem to just... shut down. Emmi is left reeling, because after five years spent with her father as the camp director, having him suddenly leave with no warning is a shock, to say the least.
Soon after her father leaves camp, Emmi meets Jason Grace, a mysterious boy that has no memory of his past. He makes Emmi want to be brave—which says a lot, considering she has powers she can barely comprehend.
All she has to do is learn to control them. Unfortunately, that's easier said than done.

hey everyone!! this fic is back!!! in honor of the recent pjo casting, i decided to revisit this. it's one of my favourites, actually, because morally ambiguous characters are super fun to write, in my opinion. however, something to know before reading is that this book is not for the faint of heart. obviously, being a demigod takes a big toll on one's health, both mentally (which i'll be focusing on) and physically, so i wanted to write a fic that includes that. please take the content warnings into account before reading. also, something i felt the need to reiterate here: the actions and opinions of my character do not reflect my own.
