"Pencils down!"
There were a few annoyed groans coming from my classmates. I drop my pencil onto the sheet of paper and sigh, fully resigned.
Our teacher, Herobrine, uses his abilities to make our tests disappear, then making them reappear moments later onto his desk. I didn't even bother to try. I ended up doodling all over my test, not a single question answered.
Herobrine raises his eyebrow in my direction but doesn't say anything. I didn't care much anyway.
After the whole incident happened, I pretty much stopped talking in general. I haven't said a word since it happened, at least not in front of anyone. Zombie would try to include me in conversations every once in a while, but I refused to speak.
"Alright, class," Herobrine says, "Dismissed."
I exit school with a neutral expression. "Hey, Skeleton, wait up!" Zombie shouts.
I halt in my tracks and allow him to catch up. My eyes lingered to the ground.
"So, uh, Skeleton," he says, "The rest of the mobs and I wanted to know if you maybe would like to... Join us on a fun expedition. We've got three weeks off from school, so..." He trails off.
"..." I continue walking, not bothering to turn to his direction.
"I... I think it'd be good for you, Skeleton. Think about it, okay? Text me before dawn if you're interested, we're leaving tomorrow at midnight." I nod in reply and continue walking forward. Zombie and I coexist for a while, until Zombie eventually reaches his house.
An expedition? I thought, I wonder what he means by that...
Eh, I probably have plans. Besides, I don't want to be dealing with my classmates for three weeks, especially when I have off from school.
...Okay, so maybe I don't have plans. But, still.
...
"..."
Damn it, fine.
I send Zombie a quick text saying that I'll go after all. I'm totally going to regret this.

"Wakey-wakey, Skeleton!" I woke up to the intrusively loud noise of Zombie banging on my front door. A gentle teleporting noise was heard.
I jump a bit at the sound, my first thought being Wither! I'm brutally disappointed though when my eyes lock with Enderman's glowing purple ones.
"Are you all packed?" He asks. I nod.
"Alright. I'll teleport us outside when you're ready. Just give me the signal." Since I pretty much refused to speak to anyone, the mobs had created a set of signals I could use to communicate with them. Usually the signal would be a small nod or a tap on the shoulder.
I place another stack of cakes into my inventory, as well as two stacks of emeralds. Emeralds are extremely important when traveling— without them, it's like walking around penniless.
I kept a sword with me at all times. I have gotten notably better at handling a sword. Sometimes I self-train.
After double checking what I have to take with me, I tap Enderman's shoulder gently. He places a hand onto my shoulder and teleports both of us outside.
"Skeleton!" Ghast exclaims, "I'm so glad you've decided to join us!"
I just hope it wasn't a mistake.
"Alright, so I bet you're wondering where we're planning to go."
"Yeah!" Slime exclaims, "Well, the answer to that is..."
"...We're not really sure, honestly," Zombie admits, scratching the back of his head. I look at him in disbelief. He'd best be joking— we're bound to get lost!
"What did I miss?" Pigman asks, panting slightly.
"Nothing. Everyone ready?"
Maybe this wasn't the best idea after all. I should've listened to my gut.
"Alright then, we're set!"
~
We've been walking around aimlessly for hours. My classmates were trying to think of ideas on the spot.
"A cave!" Creeper had suggested earlier.
"A deep sea temple!" Zombie suggested.
"Let's just keep walking, guys. I'm sure we'll find something that'll be exciting," Enderman said, chuckling softly.
"Ooh, what's that?" Pigman says, pausing before taking another bite of his fried chicken.
"It looks like a town," Zombie says, "But there's not supposed to be a single thing out here— we're supposed to be walking through desert for the next ten miles."
"It looks like a ghost town," Slime says, shuddering.
"I say we take a look," Ghast says, "I mean, we've been walking for hours."
"You were literally floating the whole time," Creeper says. Ghast ignores this and floats towards the town curiously.
"Eh, what do we have to lose. Might as well check the place out." I follow the rest of my classmates into the seemingly abandoned town. Something about the area was eerie...
"Guys... I'm not sure about this place..," Enderman mumbles.
"Chill out, there's nothing here." Pigman kicks a stray hay bale. "See?"
"Guys, I hate to say this but the sun's going to rise soon," Creeper says, "I'm fine with staying out here to look around, but some of us can't survive under direct sunlight. I suggest we find some shelter."
"Agreed," Zombie says, "Though I think the only mobs that can't handle sunlight are Skeleton and myself. The rest of you can continue looking around."
"I'll stick around with both of you," Enderman says. Zombie and I nod. The other mobs go their own way, while we head toward an abandoned shack.
"Eww...," Zombie exclaims, "There are spider webs everywhere!"
"Would you prefer to burn alive?" Zombie sighs and shakes his head, claiming the left corner of the shack. I plop my bed down right next to Zombie's. Enderman stays put.
"I'll keep watch for a while. Something about this place is super off."
"You're overthinking it," Zombie mumbles sleepily, "Anyways, don't go to sleep super late. We're going to continue our expedition the moment the sun goes down. Night."
I stare at the ceiling quietly, listening to Zombie's soft snores. By now, the sun had completely risen.
The distressed feeling in my guy didn't fade though. Something about this abandoned town was off. So off. My body screamed for me to leave, but I couldn't. My body stays glued to my bed.
You're overthinking it. Zombie's words replay in my head.
Maybe he's right.
