Turned World (On Hiatus)

  In the year xxxx, when technology had reached a new peak of biomechanical expertise the world had changed abruptly. The government broadcasted warnings of toxic chemical gasses which had been accidentally released all over the world. News reports quickly released stories of people inhaling the gasses in the air suddenly transforming into monstrous beings, running around and biting, cutting up and tearing other people to shreds, creating more of them in the process.

  It was a zombie apocalypse.

  Military personnel engaged the abominations, holding them off as citizens evacuated the cities. Gas masks were being issued to citizens to counter the rapidly spreading gasses.

Soon, safe heavens called Sanctuaries were created which diverted the gasses away from particular areas, but the technology involved was very expensive, resulting in less than ten safe zones being created across the world.

  In three months, more than half of the world’s population had been infected, or “turned”, as the government decided to call the process.

  Two years after the incident, some people were found to possess genetic abnormalities, most likely due to the need for adaptation to the new way of living. These special few were able to alter their bodies by special means to harness abilities. They could heighten their senses or increase their body’s output, or in even more rare cases, generate energy to be used as power for various things.

No cure or counter has been found and the government scientists are continously working in fight against the toxic gas.
