NEVER TRUST ANYONE, NOT EVEN THE ONE'S YOU LOVE. it was what their father had always instilled into the park siblings. in the end, park yena realized it was just the bitter truth. family was the one that would break you, bend you until you screamed for mercy, only to never receive it. life was similar. yena knew life did not care about her, nor her brother. life did not care if they were going flat broke. life did not care if they struggled to get food onto the table. life did not care if she sold her body to get the money that she needed, only to just barely get by on scraps and cold nights on the floor. life did not care if her brother worked tirelessly to earn nothing other than discomfort. life did not care if she and her brother were hurting. the only thing that she could thank life for was taking their father away.
life was a gamble. a gamble where the happy results were all but unrealistic. hope was crushed the moment you opened your eyes and took your first clear breath in the morning, and buried completely the moment your eyes fluttered shut at night to sleep the pain of the day away.
life, in the park's case, was betting on losing dogs. and those losing dogs were none other than themselves.
