✩Keefe's POV✩

"Ready for this?" I grinned to Dex with excitement, who returned the grin pleasantly. Our interactions have gotten profusely more friendly over the days we've spent talking and laughing over cinnacreme and alchemy. Dex was...amazing. He understood me, more than anyone I've ever met has. I wasn't ready to finish our pranking mission and ignore him to let him live his seperate life. But for some reason, I felt nervous whenever the thought of me asking him to stay swirled around in my brain, making my stomach twist into tight little knots that I didn't bother trying to unravel.

"Duh!!" he exclaimed, shaking the potion upside down as bubbles erupted from the brownish, gross looking elixir that quite frankly smelled like rotten banana, but I didn't dare tell him that. Knowing him, he probably did that on purpose anyways.

"Ready?" he squealed, hovering the bottle over Fitz's lushberry juice with anticipation.

"Do it," I demanded, practically gluing my eyes to Dex's hand as he slowly tipped the potion sideways, the watery brown fluid pouring into the drink drop by drop. As the bottle emptied, Dex quickly shoved the empty glass into his backpack as a familiar teal-eyed boy strolled towards the table.

Dex's eyes narrowed, reminding me that he wasn't exactly a fan of Fitz, even if he tried to hide his obvious disdain. Another reason I was nervous to ask him to sit with me from now on, and tell him I didn't want to go back to pretending like he didn't exist.

"Hey, Keefe!" Fitz's eyes landed on Dex's unfriendly periwinkle gaze. "Who are you?"

"This is Dex," I introduced, nudging Dex's arm playfully.

"Oh, hi," Fitz said as Dex firmly shook his hand while maintaining his intimidating eye contact. I felt a pang of something I didn't know how to describe shoot up inside my heart, making me want to shove Fitz away from Dex as hard as I possibly could as their hands touched.

"Can he sit with us?" I asked Fitz.

Fitz smiled politely at Dex. "Sure! Nice to meet you, Deck."

Dex glared at Fitz angrily as he broke the eye contact and sat down at his table with Biana. But his periwinkle eyes quickly lit up as Fitz gulped down the bottle of lushberry juice. Dex muffled his snickers as he noticed the growing yellow polka dots on Fitz's hair. He bursted into laughter, resulting in Biana and Fitz looking at him like he was crazy.

"Is something wrong?" Fitz asked as Dex pointed to Fitz's hair that was quickly adopting a purplish tint.

"Fitzy, nice hair," I complimented before bursting into laughter with Dex. Biana snickered as she noticed his bright lavender hair with messy yellow spots.

"Hey," Fitz protested as he looked into the reflection of the metal table. He glared at me, but I didn't care as I gave Dex a high five.

"Sorry, Fitz," I cackled deviously as Dex sneaked a photo of Fitz's hair on his Imparter.

"THAT WAS SO AWESOME!" Dex screamed at me while we were walking the path to Rimeshire that day after school.

"I know!!" I grinned wickedly. "How did you even do that?! You're an absolute genius!"

Dex stopped laughing, and turned away from me shyly. "You really mean that?"
