Inari's POV
Kyotaka Ijichi, the assistant manager at Tokyo Jujutsu High, brought all of third-years + me to a detention center where a window had spotted a cursed womb.
"I thought we were free today?" I groaned, feeling personally attacked by the concept of responsibility. "The second years are not at school, so it's our job," Fushiguro replied, ever the voice of reason (and doom).
"Our window verified the curse womb three hours ago. Once ninety percent were successfully evacuated, they made the call to seal off the center."
"Citizens within a five-hundred-meter radius have been evacuated as well," Ijichi explained, sounding way too calm for the impending nightmare we were about to walk into.
"Ijichi-san, question. What's a window here?" Itadori asked in pure confusion. I nearly facepalmed. "You forgot even after I explained it to you so deeply?!"
Itadori had the decency to look guilty.
"A window is a member of Jujutsu Tech who can see curses. They aren't sorcerers, though," Ijichi clarified, shooting me a look that basically screamed, Please control your idiot.
"Oh, okay," Itadori nodded, finally absorbing the knowledge (hopefully for good this time).
"Let's continue. Detainee Block 2. At present, five of them remain there with the curse womb," Ijichi said, the seriousness of the situation settling in.
"Hey, so, I still don't really understand what 'special-grade' means," Itadori admitted, looking just as confused as before.
"I'm done! I'm so done with him! I don't even care anymore!" I muttered throwing my hands up.
Ijichi, somehow having the patience of a saint, broke it down again:
"Special-grade curses are those beyond standard classification. You'd need cluster bombs or at least a fully trained sorcerer to handle them. A curse of this level is not something you fight—it's something you survive."
"Sounds bad!" Itadori gasped.
"It doesn't sound bad. It is bad!" I snapped.
"Normally, a sorcerer on par with the curse would take on the mission. On a day like today, that'd be Gojo-sensei," Fushiguro explained, throwing Gojo's name into the mix as if that was supposed to make us feel better.
"I-I see. So, where is he?" Itadori asked, glancing around as if our blindfolded menace of a teacher would just pop up.
"Away on business?" I said, grabbing Itadori's moving head. "He's not someone who should be loafing around at school in the first place!" Fushiguro added.
"Our line of work is always lacking in manpower. You'll often have to undertake missions beyond your power," Ijichi continued.
"This particular case, however, is an abnormal one. Not to mention... it seems kind of suspicious." I narrowed my eyes. "There's a special grade, right?"
Ijichi flinched. "It's most urgent. Do not fight under any circumstances. When confronted by a special-grade, you either run or you die. Please, listen to your fears."
"Don't forget that your mission here is strictly the verification and rescue of survivors," he emphasized.
I smirked, ignoring the warning completely.
'I'd like to know who's behind this,'
Because really, what was the worst that could happen?
(Answer: Everything.)
