... " You hate this things don't you?" he asks, moving his finger in a twirling motion. Parties. I've never been a fan of crowded places, so yes, I hate parties. "What? Drunk frat boys?" I quip back, as I flutter my eyelashes. "Never"
"You really try to keep people from knowing you" he laughs.
"Not at all" I say with a decisive look. "Personally I think that, if people pay enough attention, I'm actually quite easy to read" I am not lying. People have their tells, and I am an open book. Never been good at lying, wear my emotions on my sleeve kind of easy to read.
" By that logic, everyone in here should be an expert on you, huh?" He leans ever so closely, his lips slightly curving upwards.
"Not at all" I say as I start to walk away. I open the door "I am not the kind of girl people pay attention to" - and I'm out the house. I've only walked a few steps when I hear the door open up. He really doesn't give up. I'll give him that.
"You always keep your arms crossed over your chest" he begins "and you rub your left thumb over your right arm, to soothe yourself". I stop walking and look at my arms. Crossed over my chest, left thumb rubbing my right arm. Damn it. I slowly drop them as I start to turn to look at him.
"As I said, you really hate them. Parties" I can hear the smirk on his voice before I see him. He seems to be enjoying himself. " You read a lot" he continues " sometimes a book a day, which is very impressive" he says as he starts walking over to me.  "You hate socializing but you always help people, even if they are random strangers" I remain quiet. Still. "And I bet you would give an arm and a leg for any dog, any day, because dogs are your kryptonite" now he is standing right in front of me, but I don't look him in the eye. "You bite your nails when you are anxious" he says as he touches my hand.
Great. He noticed. I fist my hands as if in doing so, he will no longer know about my awful habit.
" You love apples" he touches his chin " Green apples that is, you never eat any other kind".
"And on the subject of green" he adds, as he starts to walk around me "it is your favorite color" he stops right behind me. He leans down. I can feel his breath on my ear as he whispers "and it really, really suits you" he keeps walking. Walking right back to the party. Just as he is about to open the door he looks back " you should really allow more people the pleasure of getting to know you" he winks. Just like that he is gone, swallowed by the crowd and the music and the people dancing.
