July is here! For this month, APIFantasy and talesofthedeep have prepared a new contest for all of you. Summer has arrived and temperatures are rising! What better way to celebrate with Japan's Marine Day-inspired celebration?

It's summer break in Japan and you're done with school for the year! You decide to go on a trip with your friends to the beach to celebrate completing yet another year of school. One of your friends suggest a group snorkeling trip. What mysterious creatures or treasures will you unearth in your adventures? Perhaps a hidden kingdom or a potential love interest? The choice is yours!
The challenge is to write a short story, with a maximum of 2,500 words, that is based on or inspired by our prompt.
Keep in mind that your story must be Asian Fantasy and must be categorized as Fantasy. You are welcome to incorporate romantic or horror subplots. If you have any questions about what Asian Fantasy is, check out our Profile Guide.
