The past. Full of wondrous objects, titanic constructs, and the remains of our ancestors, who were once people, brimming with personality. They wrote myths, fabulous tales of gods and monsters. Modern archeology has found innumerable gods, but what does one do when he finds a monster?

'Twas a bright Saturday afternoon, when I got the call. My friend, Alexei, was in Antiparos, that accursed island. He had gone in search of artefacts that might point at some new religion, one whose traces had been found several times before, but were ignored. He was asking me to come to Antiparos' Selenok Cave, where some artefacts had been found. Alexei stated that they were, "... of immeasurable value." Of course, I agreed.

....

That cave was not supposed to exist, let alone be entered.
