ACT I
Scene 1
[Lights come up on JOHN and FRANK who are both bald and have backpacks on. Both look stressed as FRANK is pacing back and forth. They are both bald.]
John
"Technically, it wasn't on fire."
Frank
"Of course it wasn't on fire! You completely blew it up!"
John
"Not completely, there's still scraps remaining."
Frank
"That map was the only way out of this desert! Now we're going to die out here!"
john
"It's not our fault we volunteered for medicinal testing and now we're
(whispers because of realization)
bald.
frank
"Yes! We've established this many times! We. are.
(whispers)
bald. Now let's start walking in hopes of someone finding us."
[Both exit.]
Scene 2
[Enter CLEMENTINE, FRANCIS, and SOPHIE. All sitting at dining room table looking stressed. Three days have passed since the time of scene 1. JOHN and FRANK were expected to be home the day before.]
Clementine
"They said they'd be back by yesterday!"
(She rubs her forehead)
Francis
"What are we going to tell their parents? We lied to them. We said that they were going on a trip with the football team, not that they were they were testing medicine or whatever."
CLEMENTINE
"I understand that each of them got $500,000 each, but I don't know if it was worth it."
Sophie
(previously having head in her hands comes to an epiphany.)
"What if...what if they're stranded. What if they're-they're dying? What if they're out of water..WHAT IF THEY'RE
(whispers)
bald.
CLEMENTINE
"Sophie, they're not bald."
Sophie
"I know, they're
(whispers)
bald.
FRANCIS
"I'd love my John just the same if he was
(whispers)
bald."
CLEMENTINE
"Francis, I'm going to puke at you and John being stupid romantics."
FRANCIS
"Did I ask you Clementine?"
CLEMENTINE
"Might as well have."
SOPHIE
"Guys, we need to stop worrying about them, let's get real...THEY MIGHT BE
(whispers)
