quick psa to all readers:
- the first few chapters of this story will be told from the point of view of the narrator and will be written in second person and both present and past tense. these chapters will serve as a prelude to the actual story which will be written in first person present tense.
- in the prelude chapters it is meant to be through the eyes of the town (hillford) as it watches over the protagonist (hence why it sounds ominous and detached) , so in the actual story it will be from the protagonists' point of view.
