Bright was the first thing Lyra thought of when she woke

Opening her brown eyes everything was blurry but soon came to normal as she blinked a few times . Looking left and right she was in a hospital She's never been in one only when she was born of course but after that her mother ... wait HER MOTHER ! Every memory suddenly came to her. Blood A lot of blood , Person and siren someone suddenly opens the door.

She was the girl I met Lyra thought

'Hi Lyra I don't know if you remember but I'm Madeleine we met'.

' yeah I remember' I quietly said

'Doctors said they'll come check on you in awhile'
'If you want me to go that's okay'

'No it's okay , stay please'

Madeleine responded with a simple nod and sat down

Soon the doctors came and said I was lucky to be alive but I didn't really feel lucky . I didn't really feel anything

' are you okay?' Maddy said
' yeah' I said but in my mind I wanted to tell her truly want I felt in the moment

' where's my mother?'

Maddy stayed quiet for a few seconds
'Police couldn't find her' she answered

Looking at her I saw how her eyes where full of emotion, more emotion than I had at that moment

Sadness that she couldn't help when she got there as you bled

Anger that your own mother did that to her own daughter

Sympathy as you had to go thru that

Lyra didn't have any emotion
Not anger.
Not sadness
Not even a look of pain from what happened
Laura's face was just blank .

No thoughts came thru her mind as she layed down neither when she was laying on the hospital bed no thoughts came thru
And that deeply scared her.

Even if she didn't show it It scared her as she couldn't grasp that her mother The person who was supposed to braid her hair ,Love her , tell her about boys, was the one that hurt her .

Mother was the one that grabbed her hair and cut it .
Mother was the one who would blame her for father not being there .
Mother was the one hitting her so boys couldn't look at her.

A mother wasn't supposed to do that But that's what Lyra thought was normal

Looking at the white wall she felt someone hug her
Looking over Madeleines face was buried into Lyra's side deciding to put her hands around Madeleines back she closed her eyes as they both hugged

"If you hold me without hurting me
