"wake up" my older brother shakes me to wake up.
His name is James he's 24 and he works as an employee in a big company, he's been a kind of father figure to me.
"yeah yeah" I say as my eyes start to open
My mother died in my arms a year ago, she was shot in a mall "on accident".
Anyways, my dad left when she died leaving my brother to take care of him and me.
I have a hard time to get up from my bed and face the world. I've been smoking weed recently and getting high feels good.
My brother doesn't know about it so I have to hide everytime I do it.
Obviously my brother and I aren't okay but we can hide it very well.
Anyways I get dressed in a gray tank top with blue shorts.

Since we're in February it's pretty warm in our state so wearing shorts isn't a shocker.
"ready?" He asks me by giving me his keys
"always" I answer as I take my bag.
It's my turn to drive to school. I have to practice because I will be taking the test soon.
We arrive to school safely and when I get out I see my small group of friends.
I go up to them and I give them a hug. Claire, Alice, Mia were my best friends since ever, when my mom died and when my dad left they were here for me.
I would't go to school for weeks, even months but they would tell me what I missed and always made me feel, warm.
Anyways, we go in the school and the bell rings.
"Remember only 4 more months and a half of school and we can leave!" Alice shouts from the hall.
"yay!" Mia yells back
Claire and I go in to maths class, like boring af.
When I go in and the teachers eyes lit up.
"Miss Tru, will you please come see me" He asks
"sure" I say going towards him
"So we've seen real improvement in your work and you've been getting straight A+'s everywhere, so we decided to make you go into junior year if that's okay with you obviously" he says
I don't really know what to answer so my eyes just go wide.
"we'll have a meeting with all your teachers next week so think about it, I expect to see you there at 4pm in this classroom" he says
"okay sir" I say before sitting next to Claire
"what did he say?" She asks me
"i'm gonna go in junior year!" I say with a huge smile on my face
She instantly drops her smile.
"are you not happy?" I ask her
She takes her stuff and moves to the desk next to me, next to Emily, like seriously.
I roll my eyes and continue the lesson.
When the class is finished I don't even bother to wait for Claire I just leave.
I bump into someone while I leave.
"Move asshole" I say angry, Claire really ruined my morning
"calm yourself princess" A boy says, not any boy Paxton Hall-Yoshida aka 'every girls dream boy' I don't really find him attractive.
"don't call me that" I say
"feisty I see" He says
I side eye him and continue my way to my next class, he grabs my wrist.
"hey what's your name princess" He asks me
"If I tell you will you stop calling me that" I ask
"I can't promise that, but I'll try" He says

"okay princess Kiara" he winks then he leaves with his friend Trent that ooOoos us.
I arrive in my biology class and Mia's in this class with me
"hey girl" I say "claire's mad at me"
"what's did you do this time?" She asks making us giggle
"well my math teacher said I'm gonna go in junior year and she didn't like it I don't know why, she just sat next to Emily" I say
"weird" she says "but I'm so happy for you!"
"thank you girl" I say hugging her
*** "why are you mad at meeee" I ask claire leaving the school
"are you serious? We were supposed to spend all the school years together, we were supposed to go in junior year together, not you alone" She says
I don't know what to answer
"listen I'm sorry but aren't you happy for me-" I get cut off by her voice
"Shut up, talk to me when you made your decision to stay in sophomore with us" She says leaving
I don't really know what to say, I just roll my eyes and head to the parking lot.
I get a text from James:
James: Sorry I can't come and pick you up, boss is holding me back
Me: Fuck, okay well I'll see you at 9pm?
James: Hopefully 8:30
Me: Okay, love you

Fuck how am I gonna get back home, no way Claire is bringing me back. The bus already left and the girls left as well. I guess I have to walk home, great a 1and a half hour walk.
As I start to walk home I hear a car slowing down beside me. Turns out to be Paxton.
