This can be minimized by ensuring piping and other components are designed for low-temperature operations. The code requires testing pipes and further details at various temperatures throughout service life.

When selecting a material for use at temperatures ranging from -75deg to -100degree Celsius, opt for low-carbon steel that contains 3.5% nickel or more. When exposed to these temperatures, these alloys are more reliable than aluminium or titanium.
