IT'D BEEN ABOUT FOUR WEEKS. Four weeks since Grace officially began staying in Alexandria. It wasn't Grace's original plan, in fact, it was the complete opposite.
But stuff happened.
She knew, she knew she knew she couldn't go back outside again, she just wanted a chance to be okay again. Her brother was dead, her entire group was probably dead, her parents were dead, and everyone was gone.
She was alone.
She needed to find a new group, new people, because one thing Grace hated, was being alone. You spend so much time out there, on your own, you become adapted to it, Grace sure did, but she never once liked it.
"God, you suck at this." Enid laughed, placing down the final card in front of Mikey, "Your too good at this." Mikey sighed, taking the entire deck of cards before reshuffling them. Since Grace had "joined the friend group" She'd spent most afternoons hanging around the three kids,
She and Enid had become pretty good friends for the short amount of time they'd known each other, Mikey was also chill, she thought he was a bit boring though.
Who Grace came practically close with though? Ron.
It just happened, Ron showed her all around Alexandria, introduced her to people, invited her to their "hangouts" every day, etcetera. He was just a nice guy, and Grace appreciated that, although she'd never tell him that.
"You okay?" Ron snook up behind Grace, making her flinch before he sat down on the ledge. When Grace was exploring around Alexandria, she was looking around an empty house that was beside her and Enid's,
Ron was complaining about his mom or Sam always barging in so they made the attic of that empty house their own little hangout spot.
"Why wouldn't I be?" Grace half-smiled, only glancing up from her comic book page. "You haven't said a word this entire time," Ron said, his gaze was set on Grace though. "I'm reading." Grace scoffed, she wasn't stupid, she knew Ron acted differently around her than he did with Mikey, or Enid, or any of their other friends for that matter.
"Hey, how's your lip?" Grace shut her comic book, looking up at Ron's lip. It'd been about a week since she found him nearly in tears on her front doorstep, he refused to tell her what had happened but his lip was all busted up and he eventually slipped while Grace was cleaning it up.
"It's fine." Ron unlocked his gaze with Grace, now looking out to the window beside them. "Man, I know you don't wanna talk about it, but what he did was not cool." Ron stayed silent.
"For now, he just busted your lip, what about next time? What if he hurts you more? Or your mom? Or Sam?"
"It doesn't-- I don't wanna talk about it." Ron snapped, avoiding eye contact with the girl. "Fine" Grace let out a sigh, if he didn't wanna do something about his father, so be it. If he didn't wanna talk about it, so be it.
