Princess F/n, The Throne-holder of the (D/E) Kingdom, is a carefree soul. But The king, to the people, was rather obnoxious. A great womanizer, a soulless murderer, and a massive drunkard weighing as much as an enormous mammoth and the height of a standing sloth bear (It's of the bear species, don't you dare get it confused with a Sloth), he ruled the kingdom like a mad tyrant.
Rumors also spread that Princess F/n was not his daughter at all, but an orphan child who became parentless when the king killed them for not paying their taxes.
The king did have a wife. He needed a queen of course; rather she was considered more of a puppet queen. He had one single child with his wife, that one being the youngest of the 12 children the king had produced. The king never cared for his 6 sons and 6 daughters, all varying in age. The queen nevertheless did care for the children, as if they were all hers. Oh, how she wished that all the children had been hers. You might think, "That's something of a child-like wish, that would never happen with a tyrant king like him.", well the whole statement is a truth.
Living in a timeline of Monarchs, The age gap between Royal partners was enough to build the whole Great Wall of China between them. The stereotype did match this Toxic couple; The queen was 14 and the king was roughly 57.
Surrounded by such an environment, you would expect that the 12 children grew up awful. But by the grace of Princess F/n, the younglings grew up cheerful and happy.
Story #1
When Princess F/n was a 4-year-old, The second child (2 y/o) of Royalty fell ill. And the King didn't care. "So what if a brat of mine fell ill? It was the child of the wretched woman selling fruits anyway." So harshly did he dismiss the Queen begging the Cold-Hearted King to provide some money for her to treat her adoptive child. If the child was really the child from the Womb of the Queen and from the Seed of the King, as the manuscripts say, then shall the child be healed with no hesitation. It was still from the "Seed of the King", but the Womb part was not satisfied.
And this was all witnessed by the toddler princess, who was brought to the court by her adoptive mother. To save her brother, she ventured out at night and plucked berries off of small trees that were beautifully planted in the Royal Garden. She then sold them to the people in the morning, who bought them out of pity for the child (You wouldn't dismiss a 4y/o child at your doorstep selling biscuits, now would you?). She made around 500 gold coins that one day, which was way more than enough for her brother's treatment. And thus, The brainy princess had saved the life of her very own sibling.
Story #2
The tyrant King ordered the servants around the castle with pressured orders. To which, if they disobeyed, would be decapitated. The maids around the castle were often Prostitutes for the King, whom he used as dolls and when he was done with them, was rendered useless. The soldiers were thankfully under the Queen's control, (their kingdom's law was different okay?) but were still yelled at and treated like shit by the King.
The Queen wasn't allowed to communicate or even look at another man other than the King, as it was considered adultery according to him. The children were quite young at that time, except for the 7-year-old Princess. She respected them and even played with the children of the Maids, servants, and Knights that were brought to the castle.
This act in fact saved her life, during an intruder attack that happened late at night. The king was severely injured, and the Queen suffered minor injuries. But The princess and her 2 other siblings were protected by the maids wielding Oil lamps whose oil was scolding hot and servants with a cloth to strangle and porcelain pots to wack the heads of the intruders. And the King would've died without the Princess, who pleaded with the Doctor to heal her awful father. The doctor, who was also treated badly by the King, refused at first, but the Princess is the sweetest and kindest soul in the town; so he couldn't decline her pleas.
Soon things went back to normal; The princess got her 3rd sibling, and The queen started getting abused by the King, who also came back to health. A speedy recovery no one wanted.
