there will be additional characters, but seeing as they're mostly secondary to these four, they will remain faceless.

scan this code on Spotify to access the MYAM playlist, which is filled with songs that encapsulate much of what the characters are feeling throughout the book.

the playlist also helps place the audience in the world of The Souf ™ (sonically, at least). Although all the music included isn't based out of the region, MOST of it is.

genres include: R&B, Hip-Hop, Chopped & Screwed, Alt-RnB, and Jazz. The playlist is 3 hours long, so hopefully, y'all enjoy or find at least one song that you didn't know before that you like!

this playlist is also subject to change as updates are made
and the sequential order shifts, so leave a song recommendation, if you want!

ahhh! new book alert!

I know my books as of late have been primarily based in the 90s, but this one is a modern-day love story complete with the ups and downs of friendship, perseverance, and grief.

My books as of late (really, for the longest) have all been set in New York or had at least one of the boroughs as a primary setting. However, this book will be set down South, as my desire to write about a city similar to my hometown has grown exponentially over these last few years.

With that being said, the dialogue is written largely in African American Vernacular English, with a regional focus on the Mid-South and the South at large. So, ntm on my characters' euphemisms, slang, and sayings, y'all lmaooo.

I hope you all enjoy getting to know these characters, and if you are enjoying your time reading, let ya' girl know!

Y'all's feedback means more than you know!

In full transparency, I'm undecided about how much smut I want to include— if any— but if it is included, it will be indicated with an asterisk (*) next to the chapter number.

If we must have smut, I want us to be learning something about the characters and their personalities rather than it just being self-indulgent (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I'm just trying to break the habit on my part 😣).

Smut will most likely have its own chapters, but they won't add significantly to the plot. It'll deepen the way we know these characters, and we may even get a few inside jokes or pet names out of it, but if you're not much of a smut-lover (or a heathen like the rest of us lol), you can skip those chapters and still be in step with everything happening in the story.

This author's note is way longer than I anticipated it being, but I think that about covers it, so all there's left to say is:

The characters, events, and settings within this book are original material and are completely fictional. Although the characters have faceclaims, those artists are not affiliated with this book in any capacity whatsoever.

This book is for mature audiences, as the material deals with topics related to and depicting: drug usage and abuse, violence, self-harm, sexual situations, and death.

reader's discretion is advised. enjoy! ♥️
