As the snow dropped to the ground haruka kuran was walking through the woods as the snow crunched under his shoes
The cold didn't bother him of course being a pureblood vampire he was immune to hot and cold he had a strange feeling something was going to happen as he walked through the woods
"Achoo" he heard a small sneeze it sounded like a small child haruka of course heard the sneeze having exceptional hearing
"I know your there come on out I won't hurt you" haruka said in a gentle tone a small child looking to be a 7 year old girl wearing ragged clothing and obviously wasn't treated well
Haruka eyed the girl curiously and he lowered himself on the ground kneeling "it's alright come closer child" haruka said softly
Haruka watched as the child slowly and cautiously walked over to him haruka looked over the girl's small stature seeing bruises and cuts
It seemed she was treated unfairly haruka looked her over as she had long brown unkempt messy hair and golden brown eyes that would enchant anyone
Haruka looked at the malnourished child "what is your name little one" haruka asked "k.k.kayla" she stuttered unable to speak properly
"Well Kayla how would you like to come home with me" haruka said as Kayla feeling exhausted fell in his arms as haruka caught her

"Don't worry little one I'll make sure your taken care of" haruka spoke softly as he carried her in his arms taking her to his home
Kaname kuran was 10 years old at the time while his sister yuki was 3 years old he loved his sister dearly but he felt like something was missing well that all changed when he met Kayla
Kaname's pov
I was wondering when father was going to get home it was getting late "Kaname" yuki said hugging my leg I looked down seeing yuki and smiled
"Yes yuki" I said picking her up "when is papa getting back" yuki said "I think he's running a bit late but he'll be home" mother said
The door opened and my mother juri kuran turns toward the door to face father only to stare I walked with yuki to see what was wrong
When we saw father carrying a child I gasped seeing her she looked so bruised and beaten it made me feel bad for her "juri do you think we could keep this child here I think she would need some company" father said
The girl shuffled in his arms and slowly opened her eyes she looked so tired and malnourished even yuki was crying at the sight of her
"Of course...Kaname dear could you please help her" mother said she didn't need to tell me twice haruka handed her to me she felt light to carry she clung to me tightly
I took her to one of the empty rooms and set her down "I'll be back with some food for you" I said I don't know why but seeing her in that state made me want to protect her
I came back with food and fed her "W.w.what's your name" she stuttered she had a hard time talking it broke my heart "my name is Kaname what's your name?" I asked "Kayla"
2 years later...
Kaname, Kayla and yuki had become inseparable Kayla had fully recovered and became Kaname's best friend and yuki's big sister figure
Though at that time everyone was happy but...it didn't last
Rido kuran was attacking the mansion "what's going on" 5 year old yuki said as juri took the two girls and erased their memories
Kayla had woken up in the snow with yuki and they were attacked by a level E vampire a figure sliced open the level E vampire "what a disgrace to vampires" kaname said licking his hand cleaning the blood off
"Come with me" kaname said pulling out his hands so the girls could grab onto them and took them to kaien cross the headmaster of cross academy
When Kayla turned 12 she had uncovered her powers when kaname found out he immediately went to go and see
Something zoomed past him making kaname turn around "kaname sama" the 12 year old said to the 15 year old kaname hugging him
"How did you get here so quickly?" Kaname said "I ran" Kayla replied with a smile on her face kaname had been told about the stories of the cursed child the one who's power was legendary
He just smiled looking at the cursed child which was Kayla "don't ever change who you are, your perfect" kaname said feeling his heart delve deeper in love with her
When yuki turned 12 a new child arrived zero kiryu who was 13 Kayla was older now about 16 starting her classes as a sophomore
Zero thought that Kayla was a vampire at first but was soon shot down seeing that she had no vampire fangs he looked up to her as an older sister

A figure wearing a purple uniform was seen with boots and a choker while also having a dagger strapped to her leg "back up come on" yuki said
"Where is Kayla senpai she's so gorgeous" a girl said "honestly sometimes it's like Kayla is even more popular than the night class as of late" yuki said
"You all please don't make a ruckus and head to class" a familiar voice shot out revealing a brunette with brown hair and golden brown eyes

"Get on your way and head back to your dorms please" Kayla said as the gates of the night class dormitory opened and they saw the crowd around Kayla
