A/N: I wanted to write about these two cuties as kids for so longgg

Enjoy~

Ballister POV: he walked beside the director as they made their way to the classroom. He felt a whirlwind of emotions. Some more than others.

It's more nerve wracking to be honest. I don't know anyone, and to make matters worse I'm in a lower class than them. I had the tendency to either say too much or too little and always seemed to make a situation awkward. I don't want to be made fun of, but there was no denying it would happen none the less.

"Ballister, we're here." The director said as she looked down at the young soon-to-be knight. I smiled nervously as she opened the door and held it for me. I walked into a beautiful white marble classroom, with sparkly crystal decorations and a statue of Gloreth at the back. It was very out my comfort zone to be in such a fancy room, he felt so out of place like a worm amongst butterflies. He found it uncomfortable. "This is your new classmate, Ballister Boldheart. I expect nothing but kindness towards him, as he is your classmate and you will treat him as you would treat everyone else." The director stated sternly. He looked around nervously at everyone. He could see mixed emotions, some excited, some annoyed, and some flat out disgusted at his presence. "Hey.." He said quietly. He looked around once more and started twirling his hair. His heart rate was excelerrating and he starting breathing faster. I looked back up at the director and she held her hand out gesturing to a seat next to a boy with wavy blonde hair. I nodded my head slightly and made my way to the seat. I was nervous he would be annoyed I was sitting with him. What if he thought my hair looked dumb, I can't afford haircuts, he probably thinks I look like some useless piece of tra-

Suddenly I was pulled out my thoughts when the blonde boy next to me spoke.

Ambrosius POV: "Hey!" I exclaimed, trying to get Ballister's attention. He jerked his head up suddenly and seemed anxious. Well, I wouldn't judge him. Being here, at the institute, training to be THE heroes of the realm is pretty big thing. It's probably even bigger for him, since he's a lower class and all...
"Oh, uh..." Ballister started. "Hi" The dark-haired boy seemed pretty dull about it. Was I bothering him? After a few seconds of silence Ballister quietly squeaked out "...Sorry" before turning back forward and continuing to play with his hair.
"What? What are you sorry for?" I asked him while leaning forward to see his face. He still seemed anxious and had a couple of cuts and bruises on his face.
"For bothering you..." Ballister said as he hugged himself and breathed a little faster. I wasn't sure exactly what to do, he seemed upset about something in some way. So, I put my hand on his back and smiled.
"You didn't do anything, I promise." I said reassuringly. I hoped it would at least calm him down knowing he did nothing wrong. He laughed a little and leaned back.
"Thanks" he said quietly finally looking my direction. His eyes were a dark chocolatey brown, it almost pulled me into a trance.
"Hey, wanna be friends?" I asked him as I took my hand off his back.
"Sure" Ballister replied. I smiled happily and half hugged him. I felt him flinch a little, but he hugged me back.

However, not everyone in the class was as kind as Ambrosius was...
