Tisha's pov- December 1969

I have been requested to perform God Bless the Child tonight on the Ed Sullivan show this evening. I'll have to admit I'm a little anxious. This is gonna be my first time performing without my friends & sister. At least my mother is here to help, though.

"Tisha, you're on now", a crew member remarked. Well here goes nothing.

Mama may have, papa may have
But God bless the child that's got his own
Them that's got shall get
Them that's not shall lose
So the bible said and it still is news
Mama may have, papa may have (mama may have, papa may have)
But God bless the child that's got his own, that's got his own (ooh-ooh)
Yes, the strong get smart
While the weak ones fade
Empty pockets don't ever make the grade (ooh)
Mama may have, papa may have (ooh, ooh)
But God bless the child that's got his own, that's got his own (ooh, ooh)
Money, you've got lots of friends
They're crowding around the door
When you're gone and spending ends
They don't come no more
Rich relations give crusts of bread and such
You can help yourself, but don't take too much
Mama may have, papa may have (mama may have, papa may have)
But God bless the child that's got his own, that's got his own
God bless the child, the child that's got his own

"Ladies and gentlemen give a round of applause for the lovely Miss Campbell", said Ed.

"Thank you Ed you're too kind", I blushed.

"Now there's this new group that signed to the same record label as you Tisha. Would you like to introduce them to the crowd?

"Sure, Ed. Everyone I would like for you to meet the Jackson Five", I yelled.

I wonder if this is the new group Berry was talking to me about earlier. I headed backstage where my mother and my sisters Tichina & Babydoll were. Right now I'm just listening to the Jackson 5 sing.

When I had you (When I had you)
I treated you bad and wrong my dear
And girl since, since you went away
Don't you know I sit around
With my head hanging down
And I wonder who's lovin' you
I, I, I, I should have never, ever
Ever made you cry
And girl since, since you've been gone
Don't you know I sit around
With my head hanging down
And I wonder who's lovin' you
Life without love, huh
It's oh so lonely
I don't think, I don't think, I'm gonna make it
All my life (All my life), all my life yeah (All my life)
I've lost to you only
Come on and take it girl
Come on and take it, because
All
All I can do, all I can do since you've been gone is cry
And you
And ever wonder and worry your pretty little head 'bout what I do
Don't you know I sit around
With my head hanging down
And I wonder who's lovin' you
Who's loving you
Oh I, I, I gotta know yeah (Who's loving you)
I, I, I, I, I wonder (Who's loving you)
Who's loving you (Who's loving you)

Wow, I'm impressed. The leader singer has a powerful voice for his age. If I remember correctly Berry told me we're about the same age. Some minutes passed by when I felt a tap on my shoulder.

"Hi, my name is Michael".

"My name is Tisha", I replied back.

"You must be the new group Berry was talking about".

"You know him?", said Michael.

"Well, yea I'm part of the girl group Shades of Love".

"Oh, so how come the others weren't up on the stage with you?".

"My twin sister Tichina who is also part of the group is here, but Berry advised that I try singing solo for once".

Now there was just silence between us.

"Look I know we just met, but would you like to come over my house to get to know each other better", Michael asked.

"Sure, I would like that".

(P.S. I know Tisha and Tichina don't look alike but think of them like Tia and Tamera)
