Despite a lot of people thinking Shinobu and Giyuu would be together. They never will be. Not because Shinobu dies because of Douma, because she see Giyuu just as a friend that she loves insulting. The fact is, she is the type of friend that insults her friends but if anyone else does, she will stab them in the leg. It's only okay for her to do it but if anyone else does it, she will hurt the person and Giyuu doesn't know about that.
He is also very oblivious. That last one probably is canon.
I also imagine it took a long time for Giyuu to become friends with Sabito because he was so oblivious. Sabito had to come up to Giyuu and directly tell him that he wanted to be friends or else Giyuu would have never seen them as friends. With my own preferred ship, I see that Sabito and Giyuu had dated until final selection where Sabito died.
