EPILOGUE

FIVE YEARS LATER......

Czairex woke up one morning and couldn't find his wife in bed. He opened his eyes and looked to the right side of the bed, but she was not there. He scanned the room but didn't see her. He got up and approached the closed bathroom door, knocking on it several times.

"Selene, baby, are you in there?" he asked in a groggy voice, but there was no response.

He tried to turn the bathroom doorknob, and it was unlocked. He entered the bathroom but didn't find Selene there, only a wet floor. He left the bathroom and approached the nightstand, where he grabbed his phone and dialed his wife's number. She answered after five rings.

"Baby—" he started to say.

"Hi, baby. Good morning. I'm sorry, but I'm a bit busy right now. Can I call you later when I'm done with what I'm doing—"

"Is this right? Selene, can you hold this thing for me?" A voice of man interrupted Selene from talking.

"Wait. Uh, baby, I need to go. Talk to you later. Bye. I love you!" Selene said before abruptly ending the call.

Nangunot ang noo niya sa hindi pagkakakilala sa boses ng lalaking narinig mula sa kabilang linya. He wanted to ask who that man was, but Selene ended the phone call without waiting for his response.

Sino ang lalaking yun?

Sa loob ng limang taon na pagsasama nilang dalawa ni Selene ay nakilala niya lahat ng taong malalapit na kaibigan nito. Kahit ang mga nagiging kliyente ni Selene ay nakilala niya dahil madalas itong nagkwe-kwento sa kanya. Lalo na kapag mga lalaki ang kliyente nito at karamihan sa mga yun ay umaasang magkakaroon ng tiyansa sa asawa.

Kung tutuusin ay hindi naman na kailangang malaman pa ni Czairex ang tungkol sa mga iyon dahil malaki ang tiwala niya sa asawa na hindi siya nito lolokohin. Dahil parating ipinaparamdam ni Selene kung gaano siya nito kamahal at sinisiguro na siya lang at walang iba.

Pero ang makarinig ng hindi pamilyar na boses ng lalaki mula sa linya ng asawa niya ay siyang nagpakunot sa noo niya. Oo nga't may tiwala siya sa asawa at hindi niya minsan pinagtutuunan ng pansin ang kwento ng asawa tungkol sa mga lalaking kliyente nito pero dahil na rin siguro nasanay siya sa pagkwe-kwento ni Selene ay gusto niya ulit ang tawagan ang asawa at itanong dito kung sino ang lalaking narinig niya.

So he called her again, but to his disappointment, Selene ended the call again. Czairex was surprised by his wife's actions because it was the first time she had ended a call on him. Whenever he called her, she would answer after just one or two rings, but today, it took five rings, and the worst part was that she ended the call on him.

Is she cheating on me? Pero imposible. Sigurado siyang hindi magagawa iyon ni Selene sa kanya.

Feeling annoyed, he tried calling his wife again, but her phone was already turned off. He threw his phone on the bed in frustration and took a deep breath.

"Where the hell on earth is she?" he asked himself, feeling more irritated.

As he was deep in thought about where his wife could be, his phone suddenly rang, indicating an incoming call. When he saw that it was his secretary calling, he picked up his phone and answered.
