"we're finally done with exams! want to grab something, (name)?"

"today?"

yanagi nodded. "yup my treat! it is your birthday after all."

"you do know that it's tomorrow, right?"

"of course i know. what's wrong with celebrating a day early? besides, you already have someone you'll be celebrating with tomorrow."

"yeah...about that."

"what? you haven't told him yet? why not?"

"he never asked."

yanagi sighed as he stood up with his things in hand before dragging (name) out of the classroom.

"we're telling him right now!"

"wait, we can't do that."

"of course we can! don't you want to celebrate it with him?"

"yeah, but i don't want to pressure him into making him think that he needs to get me anything."

"you-"

the sound of miyamura's voice cut through their conversation.

"why are you two yelling?"

"it's nothing," (name) dismissed.

"then stop yelling," ishikawa demanded.

"can it ishikawa, it's not nothing!" yanagi snapped with no real fire behind his words. "it's (name's) birthday tomorrow."

miyamura looked at him for confirmation. "it is?"

"okay," yanagi spoke up grabbing ishikawa by the arm to drag him off. "we're leaving. you two figure it out. come on, ishikawa, we're going."

"why? it was getting good."

"let's go."

after some time, the two found themselves on the school roof during their lunch break.

"is there a reason why you didn't tell me?" miyamura asked.

"the timing never seemed right."

"so it's tomorrow."

"you don't need to get me anything, so don't trouble yourself."

"what are you talking about? obviously i want to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. if you don't want to then we won't-"

"i'd like to spend it with you," (name) blurted out.

miyamura had to stifle a laugh. "i would've even if hadn't asked me. i just wanted to hear you say it. so, what do you want to do tomorrow?"

"i want to go to shibuya."

"all right. just know if you hold out on me even once, you'll pay a price."

(name) couldn't tell whether he was being serious or not.

"what? what are you going to do?"

"something you won't like. so you better be there."

later that day, (name) sat at the table eating dinner with his family when a thought suddenly crossed his mind.

"oh, mom. i don't think i need dinner tomorrow."

"what? but i already ordered a cake."

(name) smiled sheepishly. "sorry, miyamura wants to celebrate."

"that delinquent?" isafumi asked. "no way!"

"delinquent?" their mom asked.

"he's not a delinquent," (name) reassured her.

"it's too soon for you!" isafumi continued. "you're just a kid! who knows what he's planning?"

"what are you talking about?"

"i forbid him from laying hands on my baby brother!"

"will you shut up?!"

"you two sure are lively today," their dad commented.
