Namaste...!

Lekhani here, your dear author's pen.

I am back to introduce a new story to you all.

In the symphony of love, some melodies linger as haunting echoes, weaving a bittersweet tale of Narayana Rao and Ganga Bai. While the valor of the Marathas is well-known, the Peshwas, residing within the walls of Shanivarvada, harbored untold and incomplete love stories, including the poignant narrative of Narayana Rao and Ganga Bai.

Amidst the aftermath of the Battle of Panipat, where Narayana Rao lost his father, brother Vishwas Rao, and uncles Sada Shiv and Shamsher Bahadur, the young boy found refuge under the care of his mother and the companionship of his only surviving brother, Madhav Rao. However, fate dealt a cruel blow with the untimely death of Madhav Rao, thrusting the weighty mantle of Peshwa responsibilities onto the shoulders of the 17-year-old Narayana Rao.

In the aftermath of Panipat, while the Maratha Empire sought to rebuild its lost glory, and clandestine conspiracies swirled around the throne. In this tumultuous period, Narayana Rao found comfort his wife, Ganga Bai. Their union, initiated through a childhood arranged marriage at the tender age of ten, blossomed into a connection that went beyond societal norms. Ganga Bai became Narayana Rao's steadfast companion in the face of political intrigues. Their love, forged in the fires of adversity, resembled a fragile glass mirror. The childlike innocence of their early connection grew into a bond that transcended the political landscape surrounding them.

Tragically, As the Peshwa household embraced the promise of a new generation through Ganga Bai's pregnancy, Narayana Rao's impending fatherhood was ruthlessly snatched away by the assassination plotted by his own younger father, Raghunath Rao. Just as Ganga emerged from the feet of Narayana but was never fated to return to him, their intertwined story faced an abrupt and heart-wrenching end. In the life of Narayana Rao's life, happiness and loss were intricately knitted by the Lord.
