Jongho walked down the steps of the giant church he had spent the last three hours inside of. It was Sunday, so he was in Sunday service, praying and listening to the preacher. He wore a pair of light colored jeans and a cream sweater. Some silver jewelry, namely a cross pendant, adorned his neck, and a few small bracelets on his wrist.
At the bottom of the steps stood Yeosang, the younger teenager's schoolmate who was sure to make him misbehave at some point, but hadn't so far. Jongho smiled at his friend and locked their arms together despite the drastic change in their outfits.
Yeosang wore black pants, a black shirt, and a leather jacket. He had chains hanging off of his belt loops, around his wrists, and around his neck. Yeosang quickly removed his arm from Jongho's to gently latch a smaller chain necklace around the church boy's neck.
"Now, no one should mess with you when I'm not around. If they do, I'll give them hell," Yeosang swore, making Jongho tense a bit before he calmed down and laughed softly.
"You can't do that, Sangie, and you know that." Jongho shook his head. Yeosang watched him with fond eyes before clearing his throat and taking Jongho by his sleeve.
"Hongjoong wants to work on our project today; I can't go with you." Jongho said, speaking softly to his older friend.
"Tell him to meet us at the cliff side; I won't bother you guys too much," Yeosang said. Jongho looked at Yeosang, who then held out his pinky in a silent promise gesture.
"Fine. You better keep this promise, or I'll break your pinkie," Jongho said, locking pinkies with the older teen.
Yeosang wrapped his arm around Jongho's shoulder. They walked together to the cliff side where Hongjoong was glaring at one of Yeosang's friends, Seonghwa.
"I told you I'd be okay here with Jongho! He's a church boy- what's he gonna do to me?!" Hongjoong exclaimed to Seonghwa, seemingly knowing the oldest better than either newcomer previously knew.
"Baby, he's Yeosang's. I can't help but worry when I know Yeosang would follow him to-"
Yeosang cleared his throat again, making their presence known, before walking to where the older two were.
"I'm his?" Jongho points to Yeosang, "No I'm not. Why would you say that, Seonghwa?"
"Just ignore him, Jongho. He likes to mess around, and lie," Yeosang said, waving off Seonghwa's words. How Yeosang could lie to Jongho, he didn't know, but he was grateful he could in that moment.
"What? That's- uh, yeah, I was just joking, Jongho. I just meant from how much you two are together you must be the guy Yeosang took under his wing."
"Gotcha." Jongho nods, then walks to Hongjoong with a small smile on his face.
Seonghwa and Yeosang walked a small ways away to sit under the trees, while Jongho and Hongjoong worked on their project on a large rock.
"Seonghwa wasn't telling me the truth, was he, Joong?" Jongho questioned the older teenager. Hongjoong sighed and shrugged.
"It's not my place to say anything, Jongho. I'm sorry," Hongjoong said. Jongho groaned quietly, then continued working.
As the two were working and quietly conversing, the other pair at the trees were arguing quietly.
"Tell him, Yeosang. You can't just let him get away from you like that. Don't let him run to Yunho," Seonghwa advised, though his tone was sharp.
"If Jongho wants to love Yunho, then who am I to get in the way of a God-based couple?! Just some stupid non believer who gets into fights," Yeosang exclaimed.
Yunho was another teen at their school, who, also, went to the same church as Jongho. The pair immediately hit it off, but Jongho took a liking far deeper than anyone besides Yeosang could tell.
"You know they will get kicked out of the church if they date. They'd never do it for each other for that reason. For you? I could see Jongho loving you far deeper than you think." Seonghwa says. Yeosang shook his head.
"He'd never leave the church for me." Yeosang smiled at Jongho, who was still working with Hongjoong.
"I thought the same about Hongjoong, but he defied both the church and his parents to be with me, and he kept his faith. I'd never make him lose his faith; I want him to keep it." Seonghwa said, speaking with a soft smile on his lips.
"Just confess to him. He'll at least think on it; you know he will."
"Fine."
"Jongho, come here for a second!" Seonghwa yelled. Yeosang began to panic a bit, but hid it as well as he could.
"Yeah?"
Seonghwa elbows Yeosang to make him speak, but what came from his lips made all four of them freeze.
"If you were church, I'd get on my knees," Yeosang claimed. His cheeks grew rosy as he buried his face in his knees.
"Go away! I'm- forget it!" Yeosang exclaimed, leaping to his feet and running away from the trio.
"Was that a confession?" Jongho asked softly. Seonghwa nodded, which led Jongho to race after the skater boy.
"Yeosang, wait!" Jongho exclaimed. Yeosang continued running, leading them away from the small group and to his own house.
Yeosang quickly rushed up to his room and buried himself in his blankets and pillows.
"Yeo, please don't hide from me," Jongho asked, gently moving the blankets enough to see the elder's face.
"I'm sorry. I know you're not gay, but-"
"I was honestly waiting for you to give me a hint. The necklace and that pickup line? I think those were clear enough." Jongho smiled and kissed Yeosang's forehead.
"Was Fall Out Boy lyrics really how you decided to confess?" Jongho asked teasingly. Yeosang groaned but laughed.
"It's all I could think of when I saw you walk down the church stairs..."
"Cute."
