I walk to school in silence. It's been a week of school, and the temperature just seems to increase. I'm sweating by the time I reach the school. Thank heavens for air conditioning. I walk in and sit at my desk. The bell rings, and school starts. Usually, I don't mind school. I get a varys of A's and B's and I like to read. But today, the heat was unbearable. As I walk into my English room, Luck waves to me. I wave back and put my books down on the desk front of him. My teacher made a seating arrangement half way through the week, and I ended up in front of him. I turn and grin as he pretends to faint in this weather. Ms. Miro clears her throat and the class looks at her. We had started the Mythology unit and we discussed many myths a few days ago, including snow. I look outside the window. How I wish snow were real right now! Everyone seems to be thinking along the same lines. My teacher smiles and the lesson starts. We had an assignment to do earlier in the week and we were each supposed to research on the mystery snow. We had to find what caused the myth to start and what was "snow". So basically, background information. I researched that snow originated from many years ago, when people found cold flecks of whiteness fell from the sky. They played around in the so-called snow and made "snowmen" and "snow angels" as a recreation activity in the wintertime. They also used the snow to "ski" and "snowboard". Really, the uses were endless. But I found out that humans apparently extinguished snow when they produced a green house gas, made when smog or smoke was emptied into the air. This caused something called "global warming", which made the earth too hot, and consequently melting the snow. Many humans had apparently tried to stop "global warming" but they were too late and the global warming had already made too much of an effect on earth. They used to drive these things called "cars" which were vehicles of different colors with four wheels that run on gas. I was mystified when I read that. Why would they need cars when they could ride the Speedoter? The Speedoter is an extremely fast sidewalk that could transport you to wherever you wanted with a press of a button. A large search engine is shown, and all you do is to type out an address and you get transported there. But then I realized that the Speedoter was made in 2045. I had laughed at myself. But then I stopped and was aware of the fact that I was actually starting to believe in this snow. I had shaken my head. Snow wasn't real. I must not let myself think this. Ms. Miro collects our assignments and reads them over quickly. Putting them down, she stands up and says to the class that she likes our research skills. We all smile. For the rest of the class, we listen to her talk about the properties of snow and how it affected the lives of people. At lunch, Luck walks with me to the cafeteria and we chat about the lesson. Walking to our seat, he asks me about my family. I tell him about mine and he tells me about his. I truly enjoy my time with him. We sit and talk as usual. And like usual, time flies by fast too. By the end of lunch, I wasn't even done my sandwich because I was talking so much. The bell rings and we dash to class. I finish my sandwich and walk out the door.
