(GIRL'S POV)

If we were more careful, perhaps a bullet wouldn't be lodged in my leg. I crawl towards James, reaching out to his unwavering body. "James-" I call out with a raspy voice.

2 bullets! One on his arm and one in his throat. I crawl closer to him, disregarding my own wounds. My skirt, soaking with blood and beach water, clung to my legs. My arms were scratched by the tiny pebbles as I crawled towards him.

There is still a chance! A chance to save him just like he saved me- Saved me from my family, my life, what once was before we ran off.

I reach him, putting a hand on his throat to stop the bleeding. His lips are pale, his heartbeat is no more, his hands are becoming colder.

"James?" I call out as if spitting out the lump in my throat.

The officer approached me. "He was just trying to protect me." I said, looking blankly at what was once him. I feel the hot tip of the gun press against my temple.
