Universe

I thought you were different.

Maybe in another universe where I'm not who I am,

Maybe you would think of me differently.

Of course, with time you met my flaws,

The thoughts that make me grab the bottle and say "only one more sip, then i'll quit,"

You called me beautiful inside and out and told me the thoughts lie.

And those words somehow didn't make me ever wonder if you thought i was a burden you needed to fix.

You lied and saw me as nothing but someone you can manipulate.

Maybe in another universe where my emotions aren't bigger than me,

A universe I don't wear my heart on my sleeve,

A universe where you'd think of me as less than a "depressed girl who was in love with you,"

I thought things would be different if you knew how much I cared,

In another universe, you might be different,

but in this one, you're the person I've always feared.

You just had to destroy me for the millionth time to see.
