Chapter 1: Revelations

Title: Revelations

The anticipation of my date with Alec turned to anger as he failed to show up. My frustration mounted, and I couldn't bring myself to tell him that Noah had kissed me and that I had kissed him back. The complicated situation was known only to my closest friends, and I struggled with how to address it.

While walking down the street, I noticed a figure in a black hoodie and jeans leaning against the wall. As I approached, he looked up and spoke.

"Hey," he said, catching me off guard. "Are you drunk, Alec?" I asked tentatively, reaching out to touch his cheek. He averted his gaze.

"I know... I promised not to get drunk, but I... I'm not that drunk anyway..."

Concerned, I inquired, "What happened?" Finally, he met my eyes, and I was taken aback. Had he been crying? This revelation shattered me.

"Tell me it's not..." I hesitated. I was aware of his strained relationship with his father, but he had never shown this vulnerability before.

He nodded in confirmation. "It was that bad?"

"Let's go somewhere else," he suggested, evading my question.

"What about your car?" I gestured towards his black Bentley a few feet away.

"We can walk. Besides, I'm not sober enough," he replied without looking at me. Something else weighed heavily on him besides his issues with his father.

"I can drive," I offered.

"I said we'll walk!" he raised his voice, then realizing his mistake, his eyes widened.

"I'm...sorry. We'll come back for the car," he lowered his voice and walked away.

I stood in place, watching his retreating figure. What had come over him?

Eventually, he stopped and without turning, asked, "You coming?" I remained silent, even though my response wouldn't reach him. I simply gazed at him, at the boy who seemed so distant. Then, his shoulders slumped, and he turned.
