Hello! Welcome to this Gothic story that was born from this ONC prompt:

88. Your father is forcing you to marry someone you have never met. The night before your wedding you tie your sheets together and make your escape through the window. Half way down you make eye contact with someone doing the exact same thing a few windows over.

It was supposed to be a rom-com at first, then I wanted to do a magical realism story. And as you can tell, it evolved like a weird pokemon into a Gothic novella.

"Cordelia is, according to her father, too weird to ever marry. Her fate is set she'll marry a man she never met and live a life in an old dusty manor with a smile on her face. But Cordelia's dreams are stronger than destiny, and the man who will give her what she wants awaits in the shadows."
