It was well past tween time when Ezylryb awoke in his hallow after being rescued from the devil's triangle. It wasn't long after waking that Octavia slithered into his hallow carrying a cup of milkberry tea, a small bowl of milkberry porage, and a caterpillar muffin that Cook made to celebrate Ezylryb's return. Cook kept them warm for the whiskered screech.

"You realy have become a nest maid, Octavia, knowing exactly when I'd wake up," there was only kindness in his voice.

"Oh, I'd say it was easier becoming a nestmaid than it was becoming a fighter, or at least it seems that way. You were in quite a hurry training us."

"For good reason! That war had been going on for far too long," he said after hastily gulping down a beakful of porage.

.

"Oh, of course I know," she drew out the words, as she turned her now sightless gaze to him. Ezylryb sometimes felt a tinge of regret seeing those empty eye sockets, for he knew that it was his fault she lost her sight. She had always told him that taking her into the war and even losing her eyes led to a better life than she would have otherwise.

"Oh, and while you were gone Soren and his friends came to visit."

"Now did they," he churred, not caring that they snuck in. "Did they find the chamber?"

"Why yes they did."

"I take it that Twilight liked those claws in there," he tried to imagine the scene playing out. "That owl cares too much about fighting for his own good," he shook his head slowly.

"Even in the world of civilized owls, we still need fighters, no matter how much you hate it," Octavia's hiss carried no venom.

"You know I'm a gizzard resister, but yes, unfortunately not all owls will listen to reason and enjoy civilization," he had finished his porridge and moved on to the muffin. "Cook's food definitely can change an owl's mindset."

"But to answer your question about Twilight, he wasn't there," this shocked the old owl.

"That's unusual, I was under the impression that those four youngens did everything together."

"I believe that it was a last minute operation, it was not planed well, Soren and Gylfie came in to take a look, while Digger stood guard. The thing is they didn't have set signals to have them leave before getting caught."

He sighed, how many ploys, schemes, have gone wrong due to lack of communication and poor planning? Too many!

"I know, Lyze, I know," Octavia practically read his mind, "At least with this operation there were no punishments, even though there could have been a very seveir one. They had found the chamber and I told them everything about your past. They saw the claws and assumend the worst so I straighted things out."

"I suppose having deadly battle claws in one's hallow could send the wrong impression," he mused.

"The truth definitely surprised them, Soren was even able to make the jump from Lyze to Ezyl," a feeling of pride swelled in his chest from the accomplishment of the owl he viewed as a son. Even if the only one who knew these feelings was the snake before him.

"They had to have told Twilight, who was probably disappointed not to been able to see those claws, they may have told Soren's sister, Eglentine, as well. I know those owls can keep secrets, or the whole tree know at least the most intresting bits from the parment meetings." Ezylryb knew about the roots he went there before he gained a seat in the parliament and had found the talion marks of the band shortly after they arrived.
