"My competition is on Monday," Gunwook reminded his sister as they took a turn on the curved sidewalk, arriving at his fencing practice

"Don't worry I'll be there," she said, nodding at him with a grin

"Not talking about you, I'm talking about Jake. He is like my lucky charm," he said, facing towards his sister

"He... is your lucky charm?" she said, bursting out of laughter

"Yeah, whenever he is at my competitions I always do good," he said looking at his sister with a confused expression

"Whatever floats your boat, bye my little brother," she said cooing to him and pinching his two cheeks aggressively, placing a kiss on his cheek

"Eww get off of me," he commented in disgust, twitching his mouth at his sister, attempting to push her shoulders

"Aww my little brother is too cool for kisses from his older sister," she said in a whiny tone

"I think you shouldn't do this in public, especially when a boy around your age is looking directly at us," he said, looking past his sister, observing the boy with the platinum-dyed hair look straight at the sibling duo.

"Who cares?" she said, rolling her eyes and a smile. Looking over her shoulder, his eyes met hers, and that smile fell at the sight of him

"You know him?" her brother asked, looking her up and down

"No, and you are going to be late, go," she said, turning his body and pushing his back towards the entrance door.

"Bye, I'm going to go, I'll pick you up later," she said, walking away concurrently, waving towards him. Going in the opposite direction from the Lee boy. She took a few turns but could hear footsteps near her

"Gaeul!" he exclaimed, running across the street once the streetlights converted to red. Ignoring him and running into a nearby cafe in the alley she had run into to avoid him.

Panting, entering the small, cozy cafe. The automatic bell rang on top of the door, due to the motion of the door. Looking around the cafe, her eyes stopped at the familiar figure, one of Jeno's friends. He turned around, his eyes glued on his phone. Looking up, their eyes met instantly. He smiled at her and made his way to her, Gaeul keeping her position

"Hey Gaeul," he said, taking the table with two setas, where she was standing by

"Hey Jaemin," she stutters out

"You want to sit?" he offered, moving his face towards the chair by her

"I guess I will," she mumbled, taking out the chair, sitting on the edge of the chair

"I'm surprised you aren't with Jeno," he commented, sipping his espresso through the paper straw

"Oh, I had just to drop off my little brother off somewhere," she said vaguely,

"Jeno told us, he kind of remembers what days you dropped off your brother downtown, that's why he is always at the park across, where you drop off your brother so that he can hang out with you," he confessed, looking in her eyes

"He goes out of his way to do that for me?" she questioned, furrowing her eyebrows

"Yeah, even though he could do something better like go to parties, he stays at the park for you," he added on

"He needs to know I won't like him like that?" she said, looking him up and down

"That's crazy, you are the first girl he genuinely liked," Jaemin said

"There are so many girls that are prettier and better than me," she said, looking down at her fingers fidgeting on the surface of the small wooden table

"But you're the girl who races his heart, makes him contemplate what he should say, and updates our friend group every time you make his heart and mind crazy. All of our texts between him and our friendship are us helping him to win your heart from the other guy," he confessed, sighing as she kept quieting at the truth

"Who's the other guy?" she questioned

"The whole school knows who the guy is," he said

"Please don't say it's Jake," she begged

"Gaeul you even know yourself," he commented,

"Jaemin, I don't even know what I'm going to do," she confessed, placing her hand on her head, resting on it

"Don't follow your mind, follow your heart," he advised, leaving the after.

Tears trailed down her face. No thoughts could help her, only if she listened to Jaemin more closely, "Follow your heart". But she simply couldn't let her heart explode with both boys, she knew Jake since she was little. She knew him like it was written on the back of her hand. Jeno was someone she gained to know more, someone she didn't expect to come out of him. The girl knew she needed to pick a boy.

"There you are," he whispered, appearing behind her, placing his denim jacket, and seeing her body receiving goosebumps from the air-conditioned cafe hitting her bare arms. Her tank top and jean shorts didn't help warm her. She looked up with tears in her eyes

"Yet somehow he would be anywhere with me," she thought to herself

"You know you don't have to invite Jake to my competition," Gunwook said as they walked through their neighborhood in silence

"What do you mean? He is your lucky charm," she commented, facing him with a confused expression

"Wouldn't it be awkward between you guys?" he questioned

"No," she said, nodding her in disagreement

"Are you going to date him?" he asked

"I have already chosen who I'm going to date and it's not Jake," she said, as the sentence fell off her tongue bitterly

"Does he know that?" he added

"Eventually he will find out, but is Eun is going to be the first," she said

"You go home, I'm going to talk with her for a second okay," she added, as they stood in front of both homes. The sibling duo split, her brother arriving home, and Gaeul entering the house, it was her second home after all. Jeno was her third home
