''Excuse me ? Are you aware of the consequences for uttering such impertinence ? My sister would strike you down. I, too, may be inclined to deliver some punishment, myself, if you continue with this nonsense.''

The thought of my dear friend Ayaka hitting me made me smile inwardly, but I had more concerning matters in front of me. He was standing before me, his cold look down mercilessly on me. He seemed noble and fathomless as always, in his familiar white attire that signaled his status. More than his distant attitude, it were his words that made me wary. How could he speak that way, completely overlooking my opinion and feelings ? I remained determined and stared at him with all my boldness. It was because of all these small details I had noticed over the days, and this disturbing feeling I couldn't quite define, I often had seen this unsettling light in this purple gaze. That's why I had mustered all my courage, and finally went to him to say these words : ''I'm breaking up with you.'' I thought he could at least understand my position, he was renowned for his intelligence after all, and could see what was bothering me and try at least to arrange the situation in a way that would satisfy the both of us. I was a fool. I should have known he wouldn't listen to a word I say and consider even for a while my point of view. He was too aware of what I wanted and of his power over me. Still gazing at me in a falsely indifferent way, he spoke in a confident tone :

''Are you saying you want to leave me ? But, dear, you know it's impossible.''

''I don't think so,'' I replied with conviction, ''every arrangement can be undone. Especially with those circumstances, and my will not to get involved any further, it can be stopped.''

He lifted and eyebrow, as if surprised.

''Oh, is that so ?''

''I will stop it.'' I affirmed.

''Bold of you to assume you have this power.''

He made a step forward. I drew back a little.

''As long as you're living here, you do not hold any influence over anything happening under this roof.''

''Thank you for implying I just have to leave the house to be free.'' I smirked.

''As if you could leave the estate. I'll never let you, and I'll make sure no one does.''

''Is that a threat ?''

''What do you think, my sweet lady ?''

As we spoke, we got near to the wall, and I ended up my back against it. I stopped, alert, and he put his hand near my face as if to prevent me from going. With a grin he added :

''I like your strong personality, but it will be of no use with me.''

''If you think I'll just stay silently by your side, you're regrettably mistaking.''

''What makes you say so ?''

''I'll settle things my way, I'm independent.''

''You're my fiancée.''

''Well I'll go and break off this contract.''

''You're aware I won't agree, nor allow it ? I don't even need to prevent you from doing it.''

''Then I'll go see the Shōgun and I'll tell her, and she'll revoke the betrothal.''

''If you really believe you can do this, then I admire your imaginative strength. Your clan is insignificant in our land and you're the last member of it, while I'm the representative of one of the Three Commissions, I have far more power than you.''

He ran a finger under my jaw, then caught my chin. I glared at him.

''Don't you dare...''

He had a light amused smile, and kissed me. I tried to escape but he prevented me, and I had to let him press against my lips with all his passion. I could scarcely struggle, I wanted to push him, I wanted to scream but I couldn't do any of these. When he finally stopped, I remained speechless with my rage. He simply looked at me with his smile, as if observing my reactions, and I could only let him see the anger burning in my eyes.

''Well,'' he commented ''aren't you cute ?''

He took a lock of my hair and started playing with it. I attempted to free myself from his grip, but he was holding me too tightly.

''Don't you try.'' he said, amused.

''Let go of me.'' I muttered.

''No.''

He seemed to enjoy for a time having me in his arms, watching my face with his sly air, then leaned a bit over to me and said :

''What should I do with you ?''
