Laufun
A bright green light burned at my retinas, a light that glowed and hummed. Beckoning me.
I don't exactly remember how I got here but a painful sensation filled my chest as I tried to breathe.
"Look to me, my soldier" A woman called, her voice made my bones rattle and my teeth shake as if the earth itself was speaking to me.
I squinted as I looked into the light. The woman was tall with long burgundy hair and clear brown skin. she looked down upon me. The overwhelming light made it difficult to take in her facial features. But I could tell her eyes were looking into mine.
I could feel as if my soul was being wrung and squeezed through my own body.
"Stand"
My legs obeyed her command.
"What is this? Where am I?" I yell into the light.
"You have died child...but death took you too soon"
The Realization slowly crept into my chest, tightening my nerves. I went to grab it to calm myself, feeling Something wet soaking my shirt. I look down slowly.
Then I see it.
A spear lodged through my heart. The other end sticking out of my back. Panic began to ensue. I started backing away from the light as I hyperventilated. My chest spilled with blood, the sight filled me with dread.
"Do not fret, I have come to give you a second chance, a great mission which you must succeed in doing, if you prevail, your body and memories will be preserved and returned to you"
I stare at the being, trying to hold the blood spilling from my body.
"Choose to decline and I leave you here, in death"
... it was an offer I had no choice in.
"What is this mission?" I ask her, taking in sharp breaths between each word.
"The book of a zealot must be smothered
The heart of heat shall burn again
The ring of a king must be recovered
Failure will begin the end
you and the owl must face these tasks
take leap and watch for a guiding hand"
"I don't understand"
"You will in time, my kind cannot intervene, what i've said already might get me in trouble, so i cannot give you further detail. but I do have one more word for you, you will be my gollum, your body will not be fully organic when you return, the person you need to meet will be around this area in about an hour stay here and do not think to flee, she will probably find you before you find her"
"And after I do this for you, will I be returned to normal?"
"Yes child. Now go. face your destiny"
The light disappears, my eyes weak from staring into it. I could barely even make out my surroundings. I wince and blink, slowly gaining my sight trying to study where I am.
An alleyway, filled with rocks and dumpsters lined up neatly on either side. I look down and see the spear still deep within my chest. A silver spear, about six feet long, the hilt was wrapped in green leather. There was no more blood pouring from my chest, no more pain and the stains from it had disappeared.
