"shit," she muttered as her eyes met her fathers, "sorry dad i was just-"

she found herself in a tense situation as her father's voice grew louder outside. his gaze wandered over to chris, who stood by her side, causing his eyebrows to furrow. "just what? sneaking out with a boy?" he asked, his tone accusatory.

she tried to defend herself, "i wasn't sneaking out." but before she could say anything more, chris interrupted her, "sorry, i made quinn come out to me even after she said no."

suddenly his mood switched. He seemed to recognize chris and his tone softened, "chris? we haven't seen you in ages, why hasn't leo invited you around?"

quinn watched as her father and him broke into the conversation, confused about the sudden change in his attitude

as soon as the words escaped her lips, she regretted not being able to control her curiosity any longer. "what is going on?" she blurted out, hoping to get some answers.

"he's leo's friend," he replied, trying to sound casual. "obviously i know him well, he practically lived here a few months ago." he chuckled to himself. "we did have a life when you were on tour," he added, trying to lighten the mood.

"yeah, whatever," she muttered under her breath, still feeling uneasy about the situation.

ignoring quinn's attitude, her dad turned to the two of them and asked, "why are you two out here?" he looked a bit puzzled. "you've never mentioned knowing chris to us," he pointed out.

"maybe because you never ask." She huffed under her breath, just loud enough so only chris was able to hear. chris flashed a wide grin as he threw an arm around her shoulder, drawing her in closer to him. "i'm her boyfriend," he announced to her father.

the older man's eyes widened slightly, but he kept a smile on his face, attempting to mask any disapproval he may have been feeling. "oh, wow," he said, his tone carefully neutral. "chris, why don't you stay here for the night instead of trying to find your way home at this time of night?"

quinn quickly interfered, "dad, that's not necessary. matt can give him a ride home."

"it's cool, i'll stay." chris turned his head to look at the slight disappointment on her face, "it'll make things more believable if your parents are involved." he whispered in her ear, then turned his attention back to her dad, pulling another smile before walking into the home.

she took a quick glance at her dad then grabbed chris' hand, leading him up to her room. "you didn't have to stay." she said as she closed the door behind them and let his hand go.

"i couldn't just leave my girlfriend in the middle of the night," he said with a laugh, his tone dripping with sarcasm as he emphasized the word "girlfriend".

she rolled her eyes but couldn't help but smile at him as he examined she She reached for the hoodie that was still wrapped around her shoulders and instead of tossing it aside as he expected, she pulled it over her head. as she looked down at herself, she let out a small laugh, "i look good, don't i?" chris nodded in agreement, feeling his cheeks flush with heat at the sight of her in the hoodie.

quinn made her way to the bed as chris hesitated. "i can stay on the floor or something if you want?" he finally offered.

shaking her head, she replied, "chris, i'm not going to make you sleep on the floor. sleep in the bed if you want to, i don't mind. we're friends, right?"

"i hope so, or maybe i should leave," he chuckled nervously. "is there anything I could wear?" he asked, trying to lighten the mood.

"there should be a pair of leo's pyjama pants i stole a while ago in the bathroom you could just wear them." she explained, letting out a long yawn as she turned over.

chris quietly made his way to the bathroom attached to quinn's room and locked the door behind him. he scanned the area until his eyes fell on his pants, but his attention quickly shifted to his shirt. he pulled it off his body and stepped out of the bathroom, returning to quinn's room.

"quinn, do you have a shirt i could wear?" he whispered, but there was no response. he cautiously approached her bed, trying not to disturb her. as he drew closer, he noticed that her eyes were gently shut and her lips slightly parted. in just a few minutes, she had fallen asleep.

he made the decision to keep his shirt off, thinking that it wouldn't matter much to her. as he glanced over at her, he noticed that her head was resting on the other side of the bed. not wanting to disturb her or ask her to move, he reached for a spare blanket that he had noticed earlier on the back of her chair.
with a careful hand, he slowly lowered himself down onto the bed next to her, being sure to not awaken her. he then draped the cosy blanket over the two of them, ensuring that they both were covered.

as quinn's eyelids slowly fluttered open, she was greeted by the bright sunlight that had managed to sneak through the small gap in her curtains. attempting to shield her eyes from the blinding light, she suddenly felt a hard arm resting heavily on her stomach. she sat up, hoping to move away from it, but then realized that she and chris had ended up sleeping at the end of the bed.

feeling defeated, she flopped her head back down on the pillow and closed her eyes. but as she lay there, she sensed a slight movement beside her and gradually became aware that he was stretching his arm. after a few moments, she felt his arm slither off her waist and into the air, finally releasing her.

she turned in her bed to face him, his arms stretched above his head, and his gaze fixed on the ceiling. her eyes wandered down his muscular chest, noticing that he wasn't wearing a shirt. she couldn't help but feel a little flustered.

"i don't think many people wake up with their fake boyfriend's arms wrapped around them," she said, trying to hide her embarrassment with a laugh.

"it's a habit," he replied nonchalantly.

a habit?

her furrowed her eyebrows, wondering how many other girls had woken up to this same sight.
