Enjoy the story.Stella zipped her jacket up. A cold wind breeze hit her in the face. She closed her eyes.
[It's cold] she thought to herself. The date was October 1st. Today was her first day of junior year at high school.
[I hope everyone wants to be friends with me. I hope they like me.]"Hey Stella!" A familiar voice appeared behind her. She already knew who it was.
"Oi, wait for me!!!" Someone yelled in her direction. Finally she turned around. In front of her, out of his breath, was standing her childhood best friend Eddie. His face was almost as red as a tomato. She laughed.
"What's so funny?" Eddie asked.
"Nothing." Stella said while snickering.
"You're in a funny mood?" Eddie continued asking. But Stella didn't answer him. Instead she turned back around and slowly started walking again. This time Eddie followed her. Their school was only a 10 minutes walk away from their houses. No need to take the bus, at least not in the warmer months.
Stella and Eddie were childhood friends. They were also neighbours. And their parents were friends. In the summertime they always invited themselves over to have a barbecue party or watch a football game together. Stella knew Eddie practically since birth. Except Eddie was three months older than her. While her birthday was in December, Eddies was in September. At the moment Stella was 16 and Eddie was 17. While Stella preferred spending her time being with a group of friends or at one of those local parties where all the cool kids went, Eddie mostly spent his time in nature, exploring all sorts of things and places. Nonetheless, they were still friends since childhood."Earth to Stella? You're here?" A voice stopped her thoughts.
"Yup, still there." She answered him.
"Eddie, do you think I'll be popular this school year?"
"Popular? Mmh, I don't exactly know. I guess that depends on you."
"What do you mean by that?" Stella snapped back. She felt slightly offended. [Doesn't he realise how good I was to people last year? How much they liked me and wanted to be like me?]
"Well...what I meant to say is that if you're being nice and cool like always, people will probably like you as much as they did last year." Eddie tried explaining himself.
"Whatever." Stella said and started walking faster. Now they were almost at school. Hamptons high school. Eddie took a deep breath. [Here we go again.]
He striped his grey shirt flat and tied his shoes again. In case someone should step on his shoelace and he might fall flat on his face. A scar in the face potentially could ruin his resume picture later when he was an adult. What if they won't hire him then because of that? Eddie twitched. [Let's hope no one notices me or accidentally runs into me.] he quickly fixed his fluffy brown hair and walked upon the school gate.
