The Mall

The phone rang once, twice, three times... "Hello?" Ant's voice came from the speaker. A smile settled on Dan's face, it was always nice to hear from his closest friend. He and Ant had been friends for over fifteen years at this point, having met at Dan's sixth birthday party at Fredbears.

"Hey, Ant!" Dan replied back, muting his TV. He was currently lounging on his couch in his pajamas. They had been 'fired' from Freddy's a few days prior, and hadn't really spoken since. That place weighed a lot on their mental and physical wellbeing, so neither of them minded the short break from talking.

"Oh, it's you, Dan. Everytime I get a call I think it's Fazbear Entertainment calling about that new job they offered us." Ant chuckled slightly as he spoke, although it was clear that he was a bit nervous about it. Dan was too, but he was trying to be optimistic.

"Yeah, me too!" He laughed. "But, no, I'm not here to talk to you about some job. I'm just bored and want to see my best friend." Dan mindlessly twirled the phone cord around his pointer finger.

"As long as we aren't getting pizza, I'm down." Ant agreed without much convincing. "All I ate for a week was that shitty Freddy's pizza, it ruined my stomach I swear."

"Nah, I was thinking we could just hang out, maybe go shopping at the mall or something." Dan didn't really have a plan when he called Ant. He knew they'd figure something out, even if they just hung out at each other's house playing video games.

"Hang out at the mall? What are we, teenage girls?" Ant scoffed into the receiver.

"Oh, c'mon, it's 2016! Men can hang out at the mall." Dan rolled his eyes. He honestly didn't understand why Ant was so scared of being perceived as girly. Perhaps his views were just more progressive than his friend's, but that was nothing to be upset about.

"I mean... yeah, fair enough." Dan could hear the way Ant shrugged on the other end of the receiver. "I'll meet you there then, in like, an hour if that's fine with you."

"Yeah, that works! See you then." Dan hung up the phone, then stretched his arms above his head. He'd just throw on some clothes and drive over. He got up from his couch, rubbing the bridge of his nose where his newly-acquired scar was. Being attacked by animatronics had left its mark on Dan, with the addition of a few scars and bruises on his body. Honestly he didn't mind, he looked more badass now.

"What do I wear?" Dan pondered aloud to himself as he made his way into his bedroom. He opened his closet door, looking over his options. He needed to do laundry, he remembered, but put that task to the back of his head. It was pretty warm outside, and actually sunny for once. God, it felt like it had been raining nonstop for weeks.

He grabbed a white undershirt, and a blue and green wide-striped button up. Looking through his selection of jeans, he settled for some light, baggy ones that he knew would pair well with his favorite belt. He closed his closet door, moving over to his dresser to pick out undergarments he could wear.

He onced-over his outfit a final time, deciding that it was good enough. He walked into his bathroom, setting the clothes on the counter. He peeled off his pajamas, which consisted of a baggy, slightly stained white t-shirt and a pair of boxer shorts. Having already showered and went through his hygiene routine when he woke up, he just put his new outfit on and fussed over his hair.

He was already ready and had about 45 minutes to spare. He was too set on going to the mall to commit to any activity so he sat on his couch and thought about what he and Ant could do at the mall.

They were going to shop, obviously, although neither of them had much money to be spending in the first place. They could get food, and see a movie in the in-mall movie theater. He wasn't sure what movie they would end up seeing, probably whatever looked the most interesting.
