CHARLIE ENTERED THE CHEMISTRY CLASSROOM WITH DEMETRI AND ALYSSA, laughing when Demetri stumbled over his own feet.
They looked around the classroom, eventually seeing Charlie's assigned seat next to Hawk. She inwardly cursed for forgetting that they had chosen those seats the previous year, so much had changed since then.
Demetri gave Charlie a comforting pat on the shoulder, while Alyssa offered a thin-lipped smile before they both settled into their seats. Charlie hesitated for a moment before quietly groaning and discreetly approaching the teacher before Hawk could notice.
"Miss," Charlie began, getting the teacher's attention from her seat.
"Charlie, how can I help?" the teacher responded warmly.
Charlie quickly glanced back at Hawk, making sure he wasn't paying attention, before turning back to the teacher. "Is there any way I could switch seats?"
"I fail to see the problem, Miss Delaney. You and Eli are like two peas in a pod," the teacher replied unknowingly.
Charlie let out a frustrated breath. "Well, we've had some issues, and I would like a different seat."
"Miss Delaney, there are no available seats. Please return to yours." The woman said, her tone growing harsher as she stood up.
Annoyance contorted Charlie's face as she walked over and plopped down in her seat. She refused to look at the boy beside her, but she could feel his eyes on her.
The teacher began the lesson, and Charlie opened her book to the correct page. She refused to share the book, keeping it mostly on her side. Just because she had to sit with him didn't mean she had to be nice.
"You didn't have to ask that. I would've moved," Hawk suddenly spoke, his voice low enough for only them to hear.
Charlie turned to him, her brows furrowed. "What?"
"I would've switched seats if you had asked me first," he clarified, jotting down some notes while still keeping his attention on Charlie.
A small chuckle escaped the girl's lips. "Yeah, right."
Hawk remained silent, causing her to shake her head. "You can't blame me for not wanting to be around you anymore. 'Cobra Kai for life' give me a break."
"It's just a dojo," the boy muttered as if it were nothing, but it held so much more weight.
"No, it's not, Hawk," Charlie retorted, now fully facing him. He still wasn't used to her calling him that, "You're literally attacking kids, breaking their arms, terrorizing them. And on top of that, you're friends with your bullies. You really had to stoop that low?"
