"Hmm," I glanced at her from the corner of my eye.
"Are we going to work or not? Just leave me..."
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, and someone asked, "Hey guys, should we come back tomorrow?" Both of them burst into laughter.
My grip on her waist loosened slightly as she stood up from my lap.
"No, no, why tomorrow? We should get this done as soon as possible. Come on in, guys." She replied .
"They're already here, just making fun of us," I said, pouting.
"Ummm, uhmmm," Rohit cleared his throat, "So, what's next?"
"Kiran will come to my cabin with the file shortly. We need to confront her at that moment so she can hear everything," I said.
"Alright, we'll let you know as soon as she arrives. Be ready, best of luck," Rohan agreed, for once without any drama.
"After that, take Aarushi home. She needs rest, and I'll update you on the rest later."
"You also need rest," she said, looking at me innocently, with love in her eyes.
"I'll rest in the evening, and I'll take my apology too," I smirked as my lips curled up.
She rolled her eyes at me.
"Guys, I think Kiran is coming this way. Check the CCTV. She just got up from her seat," Rohit said, pointing toward the footage.
"Go, go, both of you hide outside!" I ordered them.
They both slipped out, and we waited for Kiran to reach her cabin.
I took both of her hands in mine and said, "Sorry."
"For what?" she asked, confused, looking at me intently.
"For whatever argument we might have, and in case I raise my voice again. I'm apologizing in advance... and for yesterday too. I shouldn't have shouted like that. I'm really sorry," I said, looking into her eyes while gently holding her hands.
"It was my fault. I should have told you earlier, and I'm sorry for that. There's also something else I need to tell you, but don't ask me now. I haven't told anyone yet," she said, looking at me with hope.
"Please tell me now! I won't be able to wait," I requested.
"I'll tell you soon. Right now, Kiran is coming, so focus on that," she said, caressing my hands.
"Okay," I whispered. When I checked, Kiran was only 100 meters away from the door.
"We're in this together. Don't forget that," I said softly.
"I know, and I love you," she replied gently.
Then I raised my voice, pretending for the situation, "I'm so fed up with you! Why don't you just leave? How long will you keep driving me crazy?"
