What happened?

I woke up, back to the ground, head throbbing; I sat up and looked at the rest of me. My clothes were tattered, my shoes were barely recognizable, and I had no idea where I was. All I knew is that before it all, I was living a normal life; I was still in high school, a senior nonetheless, but still in high school. The year was coming to an end and I was set to graduate as the Salutatorian; I had lots of friends, the music department I loved so much had been going strong, I couldn't have asked for many things to make my life any better.

But I knew that things were different now. All around me all I could see was fire and ash; everything I had known and loved about my hometown was gone, with only rubble of what used to be my neighborhood left. Something incredibly destructive had gone down, but I couldn't remember what it had been. As I was contemplating what could've happened, I heard a familiar voice.

"Chris!" I couldn't recognize the face.

"Do you remember me?"
