Inari's POV
I stomped through the crowded streets, my bag clutched in one hand, my patience hanging on by a thread.
I looked through the books, Sukuna strolled beside me, his arms were crossed, his usual smirk plastered across his face, and every now and then, I could feel his eyes on me.
Watching. Judging. Plotting.
"So, this is what modern humans do to woo their mates?" he scoffed, glancing at the couples walking hand in hand. "Hah. How utterly dull."
I turned to him, incredulous. "Let's get one thing straight—I did not invite you. I was just going to the store."
"And yet, here we are. Together. Sounds like a date to me," he said with zero shame, like he hadn't just materialized out of nowhere and attached himself to my plans like an damned parasite.
I stopped dead in my tracks, jabbing a finger into his chest. "You—you absolute menace! I told you NOT to follow me. And what did you do? You smirked, and went, 'Screw you, I'm the King of Curses, I do as I please,' and then proceeded to stalk me here!"
Sukuna merely grinned. "Tch. Semantics."
"SWAP WITH YUUJI RIGHT NOW!"
"Hah?! As if. That brat would just waste this opportunity to do something pointless," Sukuna scoffed, shoving his hands into his sleeves. "You're far more entertaining than him."
"What will we do if someone in the school sees you!" I threw my hands in the air, "Yuuji being alive is supposed to be a secret!"
He ignored my very valid frustration and suddenly grabbed my wrist, tugging me forward. "Enough whining. We're getting ice cream."
I blinked. "We are not—"
Too late. Sukuna was already striding towards a nearby ice cream cart, dragging me along.
The vendor, a sweet old man, greeted us with a smile, completely unaware that one of the customers in front of him was the most terrifying curse to ever exist.
"Pick one," Sukuna ordered, as if I had any say in this situation.
"Sukuna! I swear to god—" I started, but the vendor cut me off.
"Oh, young love! How adorable!" he beamed at us, clasping his hands together. "It's always nice to see couples enjoying dates like this."
I froze.
Sukuna grinned. "She is quite fond of me," he said smoothly, wrapping an arm around my shoulder.
I twitched.
"Sir! We are not—" I choked, but Sukuna was already turning back to the vendor.
"Give her the sweetest one you have. She's prone to biting when irritated,"
"I WILL BITE YOU!"
The vendor simply chuckled as if this were normal couple banter and handed me a cone. I considered throwing it at Sukuna's smug face.
He took a bite of his own, humming in mild satisfaction. "Hmph. I suppose this human food isn't completely terrible."
I groaned into my hands. "Someone, please, kill me."
Sukuna, of course, heard that. "Oh? Feeling bold now, are we?" His smirk widened. "Should we make this a real date?"
I nearly dropped my ice cream. "WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?!"
"Tch. Don't sound so eager, woman. We haven't even had dinner yet."
Of Course, the day was only gonna gets worse
