LUMINE
"Awh, I've missed that look of horror. It's the look you give me every time we meet." I hear him chuckle.
"Wh— where is he?!?" Paimon looks side to side frantically. If she can't see him.. then what is this? A spirit? Was it because I made physical contact with Haypasia? Is he.. in her consciousness?
"Don't you remember? I already saw you the first time you came here." He snickers.
So he can hear my thoughts?
"Precisely." He responds and I frown.
Sigh—Just great, the problems keep piling on.
"What did you do to her?" I ask looking around trying to notice something—anything.
"I didn't do anything. It was her. She's honoured to connect her consciousness with me you see."
"Why?" I reply trying to make sense of why Haypasia is so important to them.
"I might as well tell you. The moment I sensed your touch on Haypasia I entered her consciousness.
"Traveler... who are you talking to?" Paimon asks in a scared voice.
"The Balladeer." I reply quickly. "Why??" I ask again to his last response.
"Hmm. I wanted to observe you. Call it a fool's errand." I hear the amusement and mockery in his tone.
Geez are all Harbingers obsessed with watching me or something...
"Hmmph! Don't be mistaken." He says sharply having clearly heard my thoughts. "I'm not as stupid as Tartaglia to be interested in a low life like you romantically. Disgusting."
"Well that's reassuring." I say in a little relief. "Almost had me worried there I had another Harbinger in love." I respond just to annoy him.
"My deification is nearly complete... let me put this into words your tiny brain can understand. Even if you manage to rescue the Dendro Archon, it will be impossible to defeat a God like me." He scoffs.
Apparitions of him appear in every direction quickly in succession. He's toying with me. My eyes follow as he messes with me.
"Is it wise to force that small childlike God into a battle against me?" He laughs arrogantly. His voice is calm and composed.
"Well the Akademiya certainly acted faster than I thought.."
"Hah. The Scholars consider the Dendro God to be the sum total of their faith. It's how they justify reverence for a God while they construct it. But this displays humanity's exaltation in the face of blasphemy. It's truly laughable and despicable."
Since you can hear my thoughts...
"Yes? What's your question?"
"You're acting more friendly than usual." I squint at the apparition of him trying to make sense of why he's so talkative.
"Yes I'm having a good day. Obviously, that's why I'm talking to you like this." He responds in a tone that says this should be obvious to me. But it's not.
