Chapter 1: Sneaking Out
Alice crept out of her room, down the long spiral staircase and made her way down the pitch-black hallway towards the door. She effortlessly opened the door, trying to make no sound at all, and slid out of the house into the street. She stuck to the shadows and made her way down the street towards the large house on the corner. The night breeze blew her hair around and she felt that she was going to freeze in the pyjamas she was wearing. Even though it was midnight and everyone was in their bed Alice couldn’t help but check over her shoulder to see if anyone was following her.
