My mother says I have blue eyes. Clear, crystal blue. Like my father's eyes, she said. Like the sky. If only I knew what that meant.
"You'll see it someday, Rhea," she says. "Your blue eyes."
"What do you mean?" I ask her. Like I always do. Because of course, I have no idea what she's talking about. Blue? The sky is blue? Please. What world does she live on? Her and all those other parents. The only world I know is the one that I live in. The one where the sky is grey.
The sky is grey.
My father's eyes are grey.
My eyes are grey.
